chapter 1

Alex

It's been 9 years since my wife left me. It's been 9 years since jayson's mother left him. I don't know what I and jayson have done to go through such situation. I pity my son when I see other kids hangout with both their parents.  However i feel lucky and thankful that he has a woman whom he calls his mother. He treats her like his mother and he loves her more than his dad and Julia...of course! How can a son love his mother who he has never seen and not even sucked a milk from her breast. I am and will forever be indebted to lauren who have never left my and jayson's side.

It have been a tough life since that day and Lauren was a light in my dark life. We were friends from the day we can remember as our parents were friend and business partners. Our parents has been asking us to marry for past 4 years but we never talked to each other about it. She is my bestfriend so I don't want to ruin our friendship.

"Daddy!"
I was doing my work in the sitting room when jayson was calling me at mid night.
With my eyes widened and heart beating fast I went upstairs taking two stairs per step. When I finally reached there-

"Happy birthday to you happy birthday dear daddy, happy birthday to you...." there was lauren and jayson holding a cake and coming to hug me.

I was in amused as I don't even believe it's my birthday

"Again forgot your birthday" lauren said sighing heavily " you should also give some time to yourself alex"

"Yes daddy, I know that your have dedicated your life to me but I don't like it when you can't enjoy your life because of me" jayson said giving me a present.

As I take the square shaped box wrapped by a blue gift wrapper I said "thank you my sunshine, you are all I got and I am glad to have you" and hugged him.

Then lauren handed me a rectangular shaped present and walked downstair ordering " come on boys! I have prepared your favourite roasted chicken and pasta"

We followed her as our mouth became watery.

As we sat down in to eat I said " thank you lauren, we are causing you so much trouble and-"
She cut me short "stop it Alex.  You are making me feel like an outsider. Jayson is also my son and you are my best friend and we are late like a family" she said smiling with pleasure.

Thank you mommy, you are the best and I love you" jayson said say they hugged.
"I love you more baby" and kissed him on his cheek.

I smiled watching them share a beautiful bond and I sometimes wished she could forever stay with him. But somehow I know that soon she will have to start her own family as she can't always stay with us.

"What?! How can you be so careless. Just don't do anything silly before I reach there" lauren came to my room as I shouted causing the echo to my words.

"What's wrong?"

"There's some problem in the office and they asked for my presence. Can you get take jayson to his school today? " I said with a guilty look.

"Ah of course.  You just go to office and yeah marry is here so eat before you go" lauren said

"Okay bye take care" before I went to office I said goodbye to my jayson
