The theatre seemed filling up and there were discordant sounds, buzzing and babbling.
At the backstage, Odeophus was putting all his efforts to make the artists understand the importance of the script and to feel it immensely so that the outcome would be beautiful. There has been a lot of practice but there was also room for little air of dissatisfaction with the outcome but their hearts weren't clouded. A leap of faith is all.
The idea was not to touch their hearts but to shiver their spines.
Odeophus started laying some tips
1. Do not let your script hide your face.
2. Look up often when you speak
3. Speak slowly
4. Speak clearly and loudly, speak with feeling, if the character is sad let your voice be sad.
5. Remember even when you're not speaking, you are still in the character
6. If the Audience laugh, wait for the laughter to be over before you continue speaking.
7. If you make a mistake pretend it was right
8. If someone in the audience talks or shouts or someone enters the hall, do not pay attention.
9. If something falls, let it be there. The crew was confident and also overjoyed, some felt numb while some felt imperceptible while some were impervious.
People's chattering was fading away, the big red curtains were in place.
The hall looked golden.
The artists held each other's hands and started praying :
Our prayer today is that Your will be done through this event. Take what we have prepared and multiply our efforts as only You can. Steer our intentions to align with Your righteous will. Remind us of Your faithful provision when our efforts fail us or fall short. May all glory go up to You when we reach the finish line and climb over benchmarks. Blanket us with Your peace today, Father. Keep us physically safe and guard our hearts and minds from pride and selfishness. Keep love at the forefront of our minds today, and the guiding light for all we set out to accomplish and celebrate.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen.
