"Now her biggest fear is that she'll be rejected. She'll try anything to feel loved and accepted" - Josh Higham
"Don't worry.." he reassured me. "I'm here to try to get girls like you out of this place.." My heart skipped a beat. Was he actually going to try to get me out of this place??
During my time hiding in these walls I have never felt so alone. Although I have been around all the other children they're souls trapped, like a dove in a cage waiting, to become free at last. Humans are social species. We all rely on connections with people to survive. I'm inside a room, with at least 40 girls, but I'm lonely. The lonely I'm talking about is when you feel you have nothing left to give to this world. I have nothing and no one. Not a shoulder to cry on, or a hand to hold just complete and utter darkness. The darkness seemed a little less dark today though. It was like I could finally see a faint line at the end of this dark tunnel.
"I know you're probably tired, but can I just simply get your name and age?" He said pulling out a tiny notebook that hid in his leather jacket. I sat up slowly refusing to look him in the eyes.
"My name is Aspen Willow Allard. I am 13 years old. I said softly staring at the wall. He put down the notebook for a second, I could tell he was choking back the tears.
"Only thirteen years old" He muttered. I saw a small tear being to roll down his face. I sat up in the small bed which squeaked and gave him my hand. Quickly I remembered the scars that run along my wrists, so I pulled back my arm. He looked me dead in the eyes, and reached for my hands. I couldn't resist this time though. "y-you self harm??" He gasped.
"Don't you get it? Im nothing. I hate myself!" I cried. "I'm just a person here to make these men cash. They don't care about my feelings." I ranted. I didn't mean to blow up at the man who was trying to help me, but finally having someone to talk to was a new overwhelming feeling I haven't had since I was kidnapped.
"Love has been all too rare in your life hasn't it?" He asked. I have never taken a thought like this into deep consideration. All my life all I knew was my family. My mom and dad were always together and rarely fought. One day in the house there was a bone chilling silence walked into the living room. My parents were no longer the fun and talkative people I once knew. The silence went on for weeks, even months. Until one day dad just packed up his entire life and tried to find what he was looking for. The divorce was hard on me, so one night I snuck out to go a friends place. That was the night I never returned home. Every time I tried to escape from something, I always ended up back in a dark trap.
"Half my life I've been alone, but that just the problem. I'm so afraid of losing the people I love the most, so I don't let people in." I sighed. "after being alone for such a long period of time, you build emotional walls to protect yourself." I continued. "whenever I do let people into my life I push them away with a fear of hurting them.." I said sitting back down hiding under the sheets. I could hear someone walking down the hallway, the footsteps got louder as the person came closer to the door.
"I must go, please stay safe." He said ruffling around his belt so the investigation wasn't as obvious. I heard the key opening the lock on the outside of the room. The door opened.
"Did you have a good time?" Dorian asked with a smirk forming on his face. "if you didn't I can find you someone else." He added. The man picked up his hoodie, which he took off as a disguise.
"It was great thank you." The man said simply. "can I pay you up front?" He asked.
"Yup, cash only though." Dorian said with his deep voice. Shortly after Dorian and the man left, Kleros, grabbed me by the arm firmly, digging his fingernails into my skin, and walked me down to the far bleak room, where the other girls laid. He shoved me roughly into the room, slamming the door behind me. The stench of the other girl's body odour started giving me a headache. Alyssa crawled up close to me, laying her head on my chest. I twirled my fingers through her thin blonde hair, her bright green eyes stared up at me until at last she had fallen asleep. Tears filled my eyes, knowing that before long I wouldn't be able to protect this small child. I try to let go of the painful tears, to let go of the fear that is driving me insane...
