Third Person Point of View
A breaking news report rolls across the bottom of the television screen just as Brianna, the next youngest player, picks up the dice to roll.
"LOCAL GIRL MISSING: KIDNAPPED"
Savannah stands up and grabs the remote, turning the volume up on the television.
The news anchor reads, "An AMBER ALERT has been placed in effect recently regarding the disappearance of a local girl. Lillian Reese Hoover, fifteen, went missing Wednesday afternoon, as reported by her older brother and friends who witnessed the kidnapping. Hoover's brother Lucas, sixteen, reported her missing after he and some other friends passed out and noticed that she and another friend were gone. They would appreciate if anybody who may have information would come forward. That is all."
The news then turns to something on troops overseas and supposed bomb threats. However, all four of the teens are shocked into silence. They look around their little circle at each other, jaws agape, and wonder if the kidnapping they had just heard about was in any way connected to their game.
"It's just a coincidence," Camden speaks, "Seriously, a board game cannot affect real life. It just can't. That's just not possible."
Savannah stares at the board, "Maybe we should keep playing, and see if any of the other things happen."
Brianna glances at the two dice pieces sitting in her hand. She closes her eyes, takes a deep breath, and rolls the dice onto the board. One of them lands on a two, and the other lands on a one. Her metal piece moves to the third space. It reads, Stuck in an Elevator Shaft. They all look at the words, and then at each other and think nothing of it. If somebody does get stuck in an elevator shaft, how are they supposed to know about it? So the next youngest player, Tyler, picks up the dice and rolls them quickly and without hesitation. One of the dice lands on three, and the other on two. When the next metal piece moves to the fifth space, they all stare at what it reads, Someone Gets Amnesia. They all think to themselves that this game and the kidnapping of that girl must have just been a coincidence, because the rest of these things have no way of being proven that they have actually happened. All four of them sigh in relief, and continue the game as they should.. normally.
