"you guys have lived here how long and never once used the fire pit?" I asked no one in particular as we carried wood to the fire pit on the far side of the backyard. "we've been here for almost 3 years and we used it once or twice when we first moved in but I guess we just kind of forgot about it." Shayne said, walking close behind me with a bunch of camping chairs thrown over his shoulders. We're having the crew over today since we're leaving for Australia in a few days and we won't be able to see them for a while, it was also Mari's last day with smosh today and we had to celebrate. It's just going to be us, some people from the production, Ian, Mari, lasercorn and his family. We've been meaning to do this but we just couldn't find the time and today was perfect. "are you guys all good out here, I want to go finish some laundry so we're not panicking tomorrow and trying to cram pack." I said, pointing over my shoulder at the house. They nodded in agreement, saying they'd be fine to finish setting up and I headed into the house.

"do you wanna help mommy do some laundry?" I asked Lucy who was sitting on the back porch in her bouncy chair. She clapped excitedly as I took her out of it and carried her and the chair into the downstairs washroom/laundry room. I think it's my least favorite room in the house, when guest want to use the washroom they have to use this one; it's basically just a toilet and sink separated from the washer and dryer only by a half wall and boiler. I walked in and placed her chair just outside the laundry area and began to work on the dirty clothes. We've been talking to her a lot lately, we basically say everything we're doing in an attempt to help her speak better. It seems to be working because she's already babbling the same syllables. We did laundry for a little, and I sang random songs to her until the doorbell rang. I scooped her up and jumped over the chair, racing to the door only to find that Zelda beat me there.

I opened the door, using my foot to hold the cat back and welcomed our guests. David, Brina and Tyler were the first to arrive and I gave them all hugs before telling them just to go into the back. "Dave, can you tell them that I'm just going to wait to let people in and I'll come back when everyone's here." I asked and he nodded before the family made their way to the back door. Over the next half hour all of our guests arrived, the last to show up were Kimmy, Tommy and Mari. I gave them all hugs before guiding them into the back. Mari took Lucy from my arms and started out the back door, asking her about her day to which Lucy giggled and babbled and Mari nodded along with the story. As I stepped out it hit me how cold it'd gotten over the last hour I'd been inside and I zipped up my sweater while walking towards the fire.  There weren't any seats left so I sat on Damien's lap, his arms wrapped around my waist immediately and the smell of the fire brought back a very vivid memory.
