I turned my head to find that my parents were holding a dusty wooden box. "What is it?" I asked. They responded happily saying that they found an old workshop that had things you could use so we did something that you would like. Wow, I was surprised that they went out of their way going out alone to get me something. They told me to open the box. I opened it and only saw a key and a map. What are these for? They sat down beside me on my bed and told me that it unlocks a special place that they found for me. I looked up to them with their aging smiles. My mind was filled to the brim with curiosity and joy. What could this place be? They loudly said happy birthday to me and I felt like I was going to cry.

It's been forever since anyone gave me anything as a gift. I ran out to attend to my usual duties but everyone came towards me giving me help. But they were almost doing the whole thing without my input. For lunch, everyone gathered in the lobby to show a small feast that they have prepared for me. It wasn't the same food as from before the war but it warmed my heart because everyone put extra effort into finding supplies, preparing food, and presentation. We ate, we sang, people drank and people danced.

Once the whole party was over everyone congratulated and gave me small gifts such as small candies or clothing. I told everyone that I was leaving to follow the map my parents gave me. Everyone that was still awake or sober simultaneously said goodbye to me. I hopped over the barrier blocking the doors and saw the beautiful landscape filled with ruins, fireflies, and the setting sun. As I walked the sunset more by the hour. I routed my way to a gravel road with dense bushes and trees on each side like the entranced of an unmaintained palace. Each step I take my curiosity grew more and more. I get near the end of the gravel road and look at my watch and it glaring back 6:20 pm. I walked past the trees looking at the map and to my surprise, a two-story house that looked untouched from wars on the outside stood there that reminds me of a log cabin with a garage-like shed in its backyard.

The house was surprisingly beautiful. It was on a small field surrounded by trees with the sunlight glaring towards me with the trees leaving a light shadow covering the house like a blanket. There was also a river near the house just to the left of the house cutting the field into two sections. The place looked like a scene straight from a movie. I went up the front door and saw that the handle was semi-new compared to the rest of the house. I guess my dad installed it when they found this place. I pulled the key out of my pocket and went to unlock the door. I clicked the key to the right and paused for a second. Trying to soak in the emotions that went through my head. I felt a burning stare on my back like someone was watching me and the wind growing louder. I turned around and nothing was there. Everything went calm right as I turned around. Looking back at the wall of trees and the gravel road I saw a single pink leaf falling to the ground in the middle of the field with nothing but warm colors surrounding the area.

I turned back around and opened the door to see that the place was roomy and nice. It was also really well maintained and everything still looked relatively new. Almost untouched for years. It almost looks like a very wealthy person lived here before and used this as a vacation home or party house. Magically it has running water and electricity when I was welcomed1 with lighting that showered each room with colors that feel like home. That's how nice the place still looks especially compared to today's more broken down buildings. I went around back to the shed and opened the garage doors. I was greeted with bright LED lighting and semi-white tile flooring and many tools. It's almost like this place was made for someone who couldn't stop inventing or building with unfinished projects of someones in the back with a sign saying scrapped. There are so many advanced tools in this place.

I went and looked and cleaned the place up. I walked to the house and cleaned there too. Hours passed and I found a radio on a bed in the biggest room. I picked it up and saw a note saying that it was for me and call line 0.1.6. I called and heard my parents saying that they waited for me to find the radio. After the whole conversation between me and my parents, they said in a calming voice like any parent should have, "This place is now yours. We have people that'll protect us if you're not here. We always knew before the disaster you wanted a place like this and lucky for us we found it. So we gave it to you...Happy birthday mijo we are proud of how much you've grown." Then they hung up. I said to myself with tears of happiness down my cheeks, "I have this whole place to myself". The sun came down by that time and was getting late. I went down on my new bed and lied down and said that ill go get my stuff tomorrow. Huh, I guess all I need now is someone new in my life then my life could be the way I wanted growing up. I closed my eyes and slept away
