"Hey Senku!" (Y/N) called as she walked into the chem lab. Senku didn't even look up from what he was doing to say, "Hey, (Y/N)." She walked over to him, annoyed. "What experiment can be more important than actually looking at someone to greet them-Oh!" (Y/N) said when she saw what he was working on.
"What is that?" she asked, interested. "Oh, it's....." Senku started explaining about the atomic composition of what he was making. "Oh, you mean the molecular structure of polythene." (Y/N) said excitedly. Senku nodded happily. They start earnestly talking with each other, (Y/N) starting an experiment of her own. (Y/N) knew about science and loved it just as much as Senku.
The other lab members sweatdropped. They never knew what the two were talking about when they got like this. And (L/N) (Y/N) was the most popular and talented girl in school. She could cook, play music, sports, and was a good fighter. They were jealous of Senku. He was so familiar with her because they were childhood friends. Many had confessed to (Y/N) and gotten rejected. Rumor had it she was in love with someone else, but nobody knew who. Science club was finished, but they decided just to wait until Senku and (L/N) were done to tell them, otherwise they'd both get mad.
Suddenly, a brawny, brown-haired boy burst through the door. "SENKUUUUU!!! (Y/N)!!!!" he yelled. It was Taiju Oki, one of (Y/N) and Senku's best friends. "After five years, today's the day I finally confess my love to Yuzuriha!" Taiju said. The lab members gasped and turned to (Y/N) and Senku, whose backs were turned, still looking at the experiment, to see their reactions.
"Really?" Senku said slowly, turning around. (Y/N) turned around, and gave a small nod of acknowledgement to Taiju, her face expressionless. "I'll cheer for you so hard my vocal cords'll snap. From the lab," Senku said sarcastically. (Y/N) nodded in agreement. "Thanks Senku!" Taiju said eagerly.
"Silence you big oaf," Senku said. "I'm not cheering one millimeter for you. A man who waits 5 years to confess his feelings is the epitome of absurdity." 'Hypocrite,' Senku thought. 'You haven't told (Y/N) your feelings.' "Exactly," (Y/N) said. "You should have confessed years ago." 'Like I'm one to talk,' they both thought. "Anyway," Senku said. "Let me provide a method so rational, it'll kill you." He held up a flask, filled up with some sort of liquid. "This will stimulate your pheromone output to the limit. A love potion in simple terms. Take this, and she'll accept you, ten billion percent," Senku said, grinning evilly.
"And take this as well," (Y/N) said, holding the results of her own experiment. "Similar to Senku's, except mine also has a confidence booster." She grinned evilly as well, her expression identical to Senku's.
The other members sweatdropped even more. 'Sometimes they seem like the same person,' they all thought at the same time.
Taiju took both flasks, took one look at them, and dumped them in the sink. "Sorry," Taiju said seriously. "I can't cheat my way into her heart!" He ran out.
"Were those really love potions?" one of the students asked, peering into the sink. Senku lit a match, and tossed it into the sink. A small explosion occurred. The questioner recoiled. "As if," Senku said carelessly. "It's gasoline. I melted it down from plastic bottle caps." "Same here, except I added diluted gunpowder for a little more firepower," (Y/N) said, smiling.
"So Taiju would've died if he drank those?" another student asked.
"I was ten billion percent he wouldn't," Senku said.
"Right," (Y/N) added. "He's an honest fool. Now then!" She clapped her hands. "Shall we watch?" She walked into the hallway. The club members, as well as Senku followed her. They went to the window and spotted Taiju and Yuzuriha.
"Three hundred yen says he gets rejected," one student said.
"Five hundred says he gets rejected and she'll no longer be his friend," another student said.
"Ten thousand says he gets accepted," Senku said, getting two drinks from the vending machine, handing one to (Y/N).
"Same," (Y/N) said, opened the can and took a sip.
"WHAAAAAAAT?" all of the students exclaimed. "How?"
"Isn't it obvious? They both have feelings for each other," (Y/N) said, "so of course-wait, what is that?"
"What?" the students questioned. (Y/N) pointed. A green light was spreading everywhere. Everyone gasped. Senku went toward (Y/N) and went between her and the light protectively.
Just before (Y/N)'s vision went black, she saw Senku was gray and still, like stone.
'Stone?' (Y/N) thought. 'How?'
(Y/N)'s thoughts during petrification......
Am I dead?
I don't think so, I'd probably know for sure if I was.
Then what is this?
I'm fully conscious, but I can't see or hear anything.
I need to be rational about this, so I can figure out what happened to me and everyone else.
Wait! I saw stone. So that means....
Everyone turned to stone.
I should just rest for a moment to gather my wits, to wrap my head around this phenomenon.
.....
No! My consciousness almost faded. I need to stay alert. That's probably the key to surviving in this prison of sorts.
Let's see, what can help me stay awake until I can get out. Hmmm...
Think about why this happened to people, think of a way to get out, so....
So I can see Senku again.
I miss him so much. I never got to tell him my feelings. I need to see him.
That's it! That's how you can stay awake. Analyze and try to solve your situation, and think of your friends.
