"You're in love with her.""No I'm not!" Tom shouted at Harrison. "Fuck off."
"Mhm, sure. It's literally 2:23 a.m and you're checking you're phone every minute to see if she has texted you. But okay, you're not in love with her." Harrison said, shaking his head. He had known Tom had loved Ila for years. It was obvious to everyone except for the two that they were both obsessed with the other. Tom and Ila had been best friends since they were 10, and had liked each other since than as well. Now both 19, they still hung out all the time, and were still close. Tom was only worrying because Ila was out on a date with some internet guy. Harrison could tell Tom was not only worried, but jealous.
"Let's just get back to playing the game." Tom changed the subject, picking up his controller as the boys turned to their game again.
•
About 45 minutes later, they was one knock on the apartment door. Just one, single knock.
"What the fuck.." Harrison said as they paused their game, listening for another.
Tom looked at his friend and got up, stretching a bit as he walked to the door and swung it open. No one there. And then he looked down. A half conscious, clearly drunk Ila laid on his doormat, staring up at him as he looked down.
"Toooooooom!" Ila slurred, dragging out the 'O' in the middle of his name. Harrison, hearing that stood and walked over, watching in confusion.
"Ila, what the hell are you doing? It's 3 a.m." Tom said as he helped her stand.
"Well.. well I was uhm.. out and then... I missed you.. so I-" She suddenly pushed past Tom still standing in front of her and ran. through the apartment, that even when drunk she knew like the back of her hand. She bolted to the bathroom, immediately going to the toilet. Tom ran after her, holding her hair back as she threw up. Harrison just shook his head and went to sit down, knowing Tom wouldn't let him help.
After Ila had finished, she sat back, leaning against the side of the tub. Some of Tom wanted to snap a picture of her drunk ass looking like she just got hit by a semi, knowing she'd hate it. Even if she did look like she was hit by a semi, Tom still wanted to just stare forever in awe, he still found her gorgeous. He leaned down and picked her up, carrying her bridle style.
"Weeeee!" She giggled as he carried her past Harrison back on the couch. "Look.. Harrison, I'm flying!" Harrison just looked at Tom with a smirk before turning back to the game. Tom then carried on, going to his room. He sat her down on the bed and then grabbed one of his t-shirts and holding it up. It'd be big, but for one, she always stole his clothes, and it would be better for her to sleep in than what the wearing now, which was navy blue satin mini dress.
"Here, darling, go change." He handed her the shirt and pointed to his bathroom, and she slowly got up and walked in, only half closing the door. Tom, being a relatively good guy, looked away. He stayed this way for about two minutes when he heard a soft bang followed by a grown.
"Tom, I need help." He heard Ila whine.
"With what, Ila?" He asked, still not wanting to turn around. Yes, he loved Ila. Yes, he found her- extremely- attractive, but he still had respect.
"I can't unzip my stupid dress." Tom took a deep breath and turned, walking over to the bathroom.
"Here." He said, opening the door that she was standing by and unzipping the back. The zipper reached the bottom and tried his best not to get distracted by the fact he could see the panties she was wearing.
"Thank you, Tommy." Ila said as he cleared his throat and walked off. He loved and hated that nickname at the same time. After about two more minutes, she came out in Toms shirt.
"There you go love." He said as she laid down. He pull Ed the blankets up and over her, as she immediately closed her eyes. "Wait, Ila, you still have your makeup on." He got up and grabbed a makeup wipe from his bathroom, which he had because Ila was here so often she left a pack of them to use while she was there. T walked back over to her and gently rubbed it up, before throwing the wipe out. She almost immediately fell asleep. Tom sat at the end of the bed, just watching her for a second.
"Hey, Tom I'm ju-" Harrison opened the door and started speaking.
"Shh!" Tom turned and hissed, motioning towards Ila. Harrison threw his hands up and backed out, knowing Tom was in his protective mode at the moment.
A bit later, he got up and went to the couch in the living room, letting Ila have his bed. After about an hour of non stop thinking, he finally drifted off to sleep.
•
"Tom... Tom, wake up!" Ila whisper yelled. He immediately sat up, seeing the nearby clock reading 4:36 a.m.
"Darling, what's wrong? Why are you up?" Even in the dark, he could tell something was bothering her because he could see her pinching her wrist, something she did when her anxiety was bad.
"I had another nightmare.. I can't sleep."
Without a word, Tom stood up and wrapped her in a hug. She hugged him back, holding onto him tightly for his warmth. He let go of her and grabbed her hand, leading her back to his room.
"Come on, love, lay down." He said softly. She laid down in the same spot as before, and then he came in beside her, letting her cuddle into him. "It's alright, it wasn't real." He gently wrapped one arm around her and the other stroked her hair, feeling her relax.
A few minutes later, thinking she was asleep, he smiled to himself and planted a small kiss on the top of her head.
"I love you, Ila. Goodnight."
