Dean was in the impala, starting over a cliff as the snow gently fell onto the city below. He had finished a hunt, drinking a seasonal logger beer as the radio played those classic Christmas songs. Sam was sick, resting up in the bunker as Kevin was reading away at part of his tablet. Dean hummed away at silent night, taking another chug of his beer with a somber grin on his face. The brisk air of winter was keeping Dean sober. The hunter was enjoying the night as his gaze went from the lit town to the flickering sky full of stars. Castiel was doing his angel trick, hiding from Dean as he watched over him. Castiel always felt responsible for him, ever since he found him in hell. It was also the first Christmas he was going to celebrate on earth and wanted to spend it with Dean. He sighed and grew the courage to show himself to Dean, finding himself almost kissing the ragged hunter. "Dammit Cas, I told you-!" "Merry Christmas, Dean." the hunter was bewildered into silence. He gave Cas a smile and hugged the man tight. The angel hugged back, but not his normal way of awkwardly hugging someone, but the hug of genuine affection. He pulled away from Dean to smile at the hunter, putting him into the passenger seat and himself in the driver. Dean wasn't going to argue with having a few beers to let the angel drive. He sighed, licking his lips while Castiel was the responsible driver. Dean was impressed with how much the angel had grown. His angel knew when to stop him from drinking too much, could give the sweetest hugs, and could drive like a decent human being.
Dean gave a chuckle and sat up, seeing that Castiel was driving around looking at the decorations people put out on their houses. "Dean, is it custom to dress buildings up for the birth of Christ?" "No, it is a commercialism thing..." Castiel was even more confused as Dean chucked even more at him. "I'll explain in the morning, in the hotel room." The angel nodded and drove to the nearest hotel. He bought them a room with two queen beds, carrying the intelligent lush to the room. Dean smiled, hugging onto Castiel. "You know, you are a wonderful friend, Cas." "Thank you, Dean." "No, no. I mean it. You have helped me out so much. I would be rotting in hell if it wasn't for you. I-I'd be dead." Dean started to tear up, wiping it on the sleeve of his jacket. Castiel flailed a bit, as Dean sobbed softly, trying to choke back his drunken confessions. "S-sorry, I just-." "No Dean, I already know. You don't have to feel obligated to tell me about how your feel like everything is your fault. It isn't your fault at all. You are doing the best anyone would do in this situation." The angel smiled as Dean started giggling with his arms over his eyes. Castiel tilted his head once more with his eyes trying to stare through Dean's arm.
The hunter slapped his hand onto the bed, staring back at those blue eyes. Castiel smiled, blushing a bit. "I love you too, Dean." "Wh-what!?" "I said-." "I know what you said!" Dean shot up, crawling back until he hit the headboard with his back. Castiel sat at the foot of the bed, sighing as he moved to the second bed. The angel stared out the window with Dean red in the face and staring at that back, swallowing hard before stripping down to his undershirt and shorts. He went to brush his teeth and wash his face, unable to calm his racing heart. He jumped with Cas behind him. He blushed hard enough that his freckles look drawn on. Castiel smiled, kissing Dean on the lips before going back to his own bed, stripping down to his white boxers. Dean sighed scratching the top of his head. Castiel was being adorable and affectionate.
"Cas.. would you mind cuddling with me? Since the heater is broke and it is cold?" Castiel took a few to squint at Dean, walking over. "The heater isn't-." "Nevermind! Go to bed Cas!" Dean huffed and tossed the covers onto his body, his back facing Cas as the angel was perplexed and rejected before he could give his answer. He pulled his hand back with a depressed sigh. Dean could hear those feet shuffle back to the other bed and Castiel climb into it. Dean rolled over to see Castiel's back, blushing as Cas giggled. "Dean, you shouldn't pray in your mind like that, I can still hear it." "D-Dammit Cas!" The angel rolled over, staring back at Dean's green eyes. The hunter was curled up in his covers, upset and growling. Castiel got up as Dean squirmed, feeling Cas get behind and start spooning him. The hunter didn't fight it, even put his hands on top of Castiel's.
"Hey, Cas." "Yes, Dean?" "Merry Christmas, Cas."
