When tiredness overtakes

When I came back from my meeting with all those 'important' people, she was already asleep on the couch. I know she waited for me to come home just like she always did. We're together for a year or so, but nothing changed. I kissed her goodnight and throw a blanket around her beautiful body. She's beautiful that's for sure. Her eyes so blue, like the Pacific Ocean. A smile that can make the flowers grow and a body every man is secretly dreaming of. She is almost perfect. Just not my kind of perfect.

I walked to my bedroom and immediately crashed into bed. I was tired like everyday. My work is killing me. I just needed sleep.

...

It was 9:00 in the morning when I looked at myself in the mirror after I just woke up. I looked exhausted. Bags under my eyes made me look like i'm in my late 40's. Maybe I needed to shave, that made me look younger. While I was looking at the man in front of me in the mirror I was surprised to see my girlfriend in only a shirt of mine walking into the bathroom. I kissed her on her cheek saying good morning. "How was your sleep? You waited for me last night didn't you?"

"Yes I did. You know how I am Steve." She said with that smile that can make flowers grow.

"I love that you do that for me. You know that right?"

"Yes I d- ah!" I threw her over my shoulder and walked downstairs with her screaming that I should let her go.
But I wouldn't let go, until we were in the kitchen. One year later, and nothing changed.

I kissed her hard and full of passion at the same time. Her back against the wall and her hands going through my hair. I let out a small gasp and kissed her again and again. Over and over. Of course it felt good. It always did. But still something was missing. I slowly disconnected my lips from hers and kissed her neck, what made goosebumps rise on her skin. I know how much she loves it when I do that.
"I love you so much." I said to her, still kissing her neck.

"I-I-I love you t-oo" she told me. Weak from my kisses. I let go of her saying she should make us breakfast.

"Yes sir, anything for you." She answered playfully. I could hear in her voice that she's still turned on. And I couldn't stop myself from smiling.

...

We ate breakfast in almost complete silence, until I spoke.

"What shall we do today? I have no work to do or anything else then to be with you. We could go shopping?"

"I'd love that! Let me get dressed." She stood up from the table and ran upstairs. I was left alone at this unnecessary big table drinking my coffee. I felt tired. Just like every day, but I won't show that. My thoughts were already somewhere else. Somewhere nobody knows.

Even I have my doubts everyday. My hope is slowly fading away.
