Skydoesminecraft's POV

"Hey guys! I found one!"

"Did you really?" Bashur and Deadlox reply at the same. I'm a joker, so I expected that they wouldn't believe me. But this time I really did find one!

"Yeah," I reply. "It's on the west bridge."

"Cool lets go!"

We have been in the nether all day, trying to collect wither skulls, but it hasn't been very successful. The worst part is, we've killed about 10 already but none of them has dropped one!

"Hurry! Before we lose it!" I call out to the others.

I run up some stairs and turn around a corner. This is the route that'll take me to the surface. Well, as close as you can get to the surface anyway. Ahead of me I see the skeleton. However there is a 4 metre gap between me and the bridge. Over lava. I hear footsteps and I turn around to see Deadlox and Bashur jogging up the stairs. I see Deadlox walk back like he is preparing to take a run up. Bashur and I exchange glances.

"Deadlox don't do it! You won't make the jump!"

Bashur backs me up.

"Yeah, forget about it man!".

But it's too late. When Deadlox makes up his mind, he won't change it. He runs towards the edge and at the last possible moment he jumps off. I turn away, waiting to hear the thump of his body against the ground. Thirty seconds pass and I hear nothing. I finally muster the courage to look up and to my surprise I see Deadlox grinning at me. In his hands is a wither skull.

"Show off." I mutter.

"What's that? I can't hear you over the sound of my epicness." He replies while cupping his hand over is ear.

"If your such a genius, how are you gonna get back?" I ask.

"I don't need to worry about that; I have cobblestone on me."

"You have what?"

I don't need an answer because he is already building over to us. As soon as he reaches us, Bashur furiously walks straight over to him.

"Dude! You could've gotten yourself killed!" He shouts.

"I know," he replies with a grin. "That's the fun of it!"

"You are an idiot." I say. I can't help having a smile on my face.

Iballisticsquid's POV

"Hey Stampy! We're here!" I shout to my best friend, stampylongnose. We've spent all day traveling to the nether portal. We're both in desperate need of quartz, so we decided to take the long avoided task of traveling to the nether.

I walk up to the portal, trying to ignore the deafening noise and the hypnotising purple glow it emits. I silently curse Notch for making the portals so annoying! I mean, this thing takes you to the pits of hell, so why not give it a scarier noise? Or even better, no noise at all.

"You first." Stampy exclaims. I roll my eyes. Typical. I cautiously step up onto the rough obsidian base of the portal.

"Here goes nothing." I say before disappearing from the overworld completely.

***

The first thing I notice upon entering the nether is the heat. Imagine being outside on a really hot summers day, times that by three. That's how hot it is right now. Plus I'm wearing full iron armour. How do things survive down here?

I hear a loud crack from behind me and I turn around. My hands automatically reach for my sword. I've had that sword for as long as I can remember. I'm 99.9% sure that it's the only one if its kind. The hilt is made out of gold, and the blade is polished emerald. It works better than a diamond sword. I got it when I turned 16 as a... gift.

I look over to the portal and see Stampy stumble over a chunk of netherrack. I lift my hands away from my sword when I realise that the crack was Stampy teleporting.

"Woah Squid, it's just me. Keep your hands away from that sword." He says.

"Sorry... I'm a bit jumpy. I've had a few close calls in the nether." I reply.

"Yeah me too." He says it like he's accidentally hit a pigman and he got mobbed. If only he new what happened to me.

We walk away from the portal. After about ten minutes of wandering, I notice a spike of quartz sticking out from around a corner.

"Hey Stampy! Look over there!" I point to the crystal.

"Finally!" He replies and runs over.

"Slow down!" I shout. "You might fall into lava!". That's weird... No reply.

"Stampy?!" I call out. Again no reply. I jog around the corner. To my surprise, I see him walking across a one metre wide bridge across a pool of lava.

"What the hell are you doing?" I ask.

"Well I found this bridge and started to walk across it." He replies. I sigh and roll my eyes.

"Wait up! I'm coming with you."
