We get out of the van and we walk inside the building. I’m surprised to see fans waiting for us outside the building. I mean, we’re not that famous to have those tons of fans. But everyone’s got internet so – of course they know a lot of things.
Anyway, a blonde girl yells our names while holding out a notebook and a pen. I walk up to her and she jumps up and down.
“Hey, take it easy. Your breakfast will juggle inside your stomach,” I tell the kid.
“You’re Yasmin, right? OMG! Please sign this!” she says and hands me her notebook and pen.
I take it and ask her, “What’s your name?”
“I’m Kathleen,” she finally says in a calm tone.
I write on her notebook; To Kathleen, stay beautiful and nice meeting you! – Yasmin M.
“Here you go,” I say, giving her notebook back.
“Are you even wearing makeup?” she asks me, staring at my face.
“Uh…no.”
“OMG! You’re so pretty even without it!” she screams.
“Really? I’m too lazy to put some myself,” I say.
“Don’t worry. You look fine.”
“Thank you. But you’re prettier than me. Look at those blonde locks.” I look at her hair.
“OMG, I love you!” she squeals.
“I love you too, lovely,” I say before moving on to the others.
They ask for autographs, photos and hugs. How can we be so famous like this when we didn’t even have any original song out yet? Oh my God. This is insane. I follow the others inside of the building only after I wave goodbye to the lovely fans.
When we’re finally inside the room where we’re supposed to be, we’re given chairs to sit on and they fix the microphones to bend toward our directions.
“Good morning, Britain! I’m Mike Johnson for Mainstream Britain,” the guy says. “Today, we have the six beautiful girls from Riot Blue. For those who have been living under a rock, Riot Blue got famous on YouTube for singing covers of some of some mainstream music today. Ladies, please introduce yourself.”
“Hi, I’m Rose Clarke,” she says to the microphone. She tucks a blonde lock behind her ear as she does.
“I’m Jen Morgan,” Jen says and pulls on the end of her knee-length jeans.
“I’m Meg Turner.” She looks at me as she speaks. I smile at her.
“I’m Ashley Patel.”
Ashley looks at me and then I realize what she means. “I-I’m Yasmin Malik.” Meg leans away from the mic to laugh.
“I’m Yuri Thompson,” she finishes.
“And we’re Riot Blue,” we all say in chorus.
“Okay, so I’ve seen a mob of people outside. Were you surprised of that?” Mike says.
The girls look at me because I’m usually the speaker. I clear my throat and say, “Yeah, we’re pretty surprised. We’re just normal girls living normal lives and then when we came here this morning, our eyes practically widen at what we saw. We didn’t expect that.”
“You guys look so young. How old are you?” Mike asks, looking at the six of us.
“Jen and Meg are 17. Yasmin, Rose and Ashley are 16. And I’m 18,” Yuri says.
