I sit there on a giant rock gazing at the beautiful view wandering what it would be like outside the village.
William Davis!" My mother yelled furiously trying to gather her breath.
"Mother?" I said looking back.
" What are you doing up here sweetie?" She said questioning him.
" Just sitting up in my spot." I said as I help her back down the hill.
We soon got back to the cottage we built before my dad went off to work in the palace. I walk in and help mother up the steps. She sets her basket down on the counter next to the Stove. I sat at the table tapping my fingers on the wood.
" Mom..? What's it like outside the village?" I said excitedly.
As she was trying to get a pan out of the cupboard she drops it. She clears her throat.
"William Davis you should never go outside the village!" She said stubbornly.
"But why not it looks so beautiful and curious and all kinds of animals like bears and wolves like in the books!" I said excitedly.
"William! Stop this instant! You can't go outside the village it is forbidden and you know it!" Williams mother said in anger.
I look at her about to ask a ton of questions until I heard a knock on the door. Mother walks over to the door and opens it.
"Yes?" She said.
"Hi is this Mrs.Amelia?" The man said.
"Why yes it is and who are you?" Mother said questioning the man.
"I'm Ben Carter! I have a letter for you from the palace it's from Mr.Samuel." He said as he gave her the letter.
She said, "What do I owe you?"
"Two Quarters!" The man said as he was holding his hand out.
" Here enjoy." Mother said.
The man said, " thanks!" and walked out the door. "
"Come William we got a letter from your father!" I ran to the living area and watched as she opened the letter.
The letter read, "Dear Amelia and William, I cannot come home for the spring,I have to much work to catch up on from last spring. But King Carter gave permission for me to come home this summer! See you two this summer! Love Dad."
I sat there in disappointment. "I can't believe he has to come home later." I said disappointedly.
"Look on the bright side William he won't be coming home this winter like he did last time." She said trying to make me feel better. I nod my head.
" Alright run off and clean up for dinner!" Mother said as she walks to the kitchen.
I ran to the barrel outside and grabbed a clothe. I rubbed my hands and face down with a bit of water and soap.
"William time to eat dinner dear!" Mother yelled.
"Coming Mother!" I yelled as I ran back inside.
I sat down as mother placed the food on the table."Do you want to say the prayer?" She asked.
"Yes please!" I said.
I said the prayer and after I got me a bowl of soup along with bread.
"Mm this is delicious!" I said as I gobbled down the soup.
Mother smiled at me.
"Is it good?" Said mother.
"Like always!" I said and I wiped my mouth.
When I finished dinner I went to my room and changed for bed. Mother cleaned the dishes and such. I got in bed and mother tucked me in. Later that night I woke up suddenly. I tried going back to sleep but I couldn't I was to excited for the next day. A day closer until spring and a day closer till I see my father.
I soon fell asleep daydreaming about my father coming home. The next day mother woke me up with a sweet scent of eggs and bacon.
"Wake up William get yourself dressed and come eat breakfast." Mother whispered.
I turned over and got up, slipped on some comfy clothes and walked to the dining area.
"Here you are William enjoy!" Mother said smiling.
I smirked at her and started eating. I soon finished my meal. I stood up and walked over to the door and grabbed my pack.
"Where you headed son?" Mother said
"Off to explore the village and see my friends." I said in a hurriedly way.
"Ok be careful be home by noon!" Mother said.
I rush out the door and run down the road. Half way down the road I see my best friend Ben. We have been best friends since birth.
"Hi Ben, wanna come with me?" I said excitedly.
"Yeah let me ask my mother." Ben said
I waited impatiently on Ben. Bens mother walks out of the house and leaned on the door post.
"Where y'all headed?" She said as she crossed her arms.
"Just out in the village." I said.
"You better be back by noon Ben Griffin." Bens mom said.
His full name is Benjamin Griffin Jr. I just call him Ben.
"Thank you Mrs. Isabella!" I said as I was walking down the road.
Ben grabbed his pack and caught up with me. Me and Ben had this one spot in the woods, But it was still in the village.
"This morning I looked on my bookshelf and found a book about magical creatures, maybe we could study it?" I said.
"Sure!" Ben said happily.
As we get to our spot we set our packs down.I grabbed the book and started reading with Ben. There were all kinds of magical creatures in that book like Blazes, their made up of only fire but still can run or walk without catching anything on fire. And my favorite of all Siria's, their these little dots that float and are very bright. They float around you to protect you.
We read a little into the book and decided to enjoy the view.
"You ready?" I said as I looked at Ben.
"Yeah I'm kinda tired." Ben said exhausted.
I stopped at Bens house to tell him goodbye and I walked on. When I got to my house Mother greeted me. And made dinner. I ate and told her goodnight and went to bed.
