Every time I look into her eyes I get lost, like Bonnie without Clyde. As the sun hits her eyes they remind me of pools of honey, sweet and savory. Without her it's like Christmas morning without presents under the tree and no snow on the ground. I wonder how we got here, I guess to answer that we'd have to start from the beginning. 3 months ago, the beginning of my Junior year of high school, she was the new girl in town. She came from Manhattan, New York, which made us all wonder why she would move to Stow Creek, New Jersey. She was like the shiny new toy, and when people looked at her they were obagainst as she walked by.

The day when I first laid eyes on her was the same day I showed up to school in the town police car, as the gaoler walked me inside I heard a familiar voice Benson Clark, my best friend. "Desiray!" He embraced me with a hug. It's been two months since I've seen him, he was my only friend really. "Have you seen the new girl Taylor Lockwood?" All of a sudden I heard a voice I've never heard before. "Yes?" There she was, she was like the Barbie I always wanted, but could never have. She introduced herself, told us she was looking for Desiray Grant. I wondered why she was looking for me? How does she know my name? "That's me," I said. " I was told that I was to be your new mentor, I am part of the Student-2-Student Mentoring program."

In anger I stormed off, and charged into the Principal O'Donnell's office. "MENTOR! Really I don't need a mentor!" In rage I kicked the trash barrel, and all the waste fell out. After a few minutes I finally calmed down. Principal O'Donnell explained that he had a meeting with my parole officer, the thought of my p.o gave me a disconcerting feeling. He was told that for the next three months I would have a mentor to make sure that I keep out of trouble. "And because Ms. Lockwood is new in town we decided not only she could be your mentor, but a friend as well." I finally agreed to this whole mentor thing, but by no means would I be her "friend".
