So, I need a little help here. If you know me, you know I have an oc named Winter Lorvale. He has a younger brother who goes by the name of Malark Lorvale (might change it.) But there's a problem: If we follow the original backstory I've set for Winter, there will be at least 8 years in between the two. Which means if Winter is 20, Malark will be, at the oldest, 12.
The original will be in italics and the edited one will be in bold.
Winter's mother dies from poisoning after he turns 8-12. Then, it is embedded in his mind by Aunt Myriam that his Stepmother did it. Already enraged by the fact that he remarried almost instantly after, he becomes mad with fury at her. Then, she gives birth to Malark which makes him even more furious but he can't hate him.
Winter's mother either dies as she is fragile after having given birth or she got poisoned. From then on, Aunt Myriam repeatedly tells Winter as he grows up that his Stepmother did it. As his stepmother primarily dotes on Malark, it makes him even angrier. Malark is 1-2 years younger.
Here's another option: His father cheated on Winters's mother before he was born, causing her to become pregnant. He had already known that she was pregnant and had given birth but couldn't take her in as he had his own wife. After Winters's mother died, he had no choice but to take in his mistress and her child as part of the family causing Winter to feel hatred towards his father and this new mother figure. Aunt Myriam also aided in his hatred, constantly talking about how evil she was and how she poisoned his mother.
