Chapter 12 - Please don't do this...

When I showed up to school the next day, I was surprised to see that none of the Cullen's were there. I frowned and sat down with my friends, "Maya, what happened to your arm?" Angela asked, seeing the bandage.

"I fell down the stairs yesterday, broke a vase and it scratched me, it's no big deal" I said, Mike looked at me. "No big deal? It goes from your elbow to your hand" he said, I shrugged, "it doesn't really hurt that much, can we change the subject?" I asked.

"Fine, there's a new movie in theatres, anyone want to go tonight?" Eric asked, looking around the table at us. "I'm in" Mike said, Jessica nodded "me too" she said.

"I'll come too" Angela said, everyone looked at me, "sure, I'll come" I said, they all looked satisfied. I tuned them out as they started to talk again, all I could think about was Jasper, why wasn't he here? Was he that ashamed of last night? It wasn't his fault, it's in his nature.

I sighed quietly as lunch ended, I went to my last class of the day but I didn't really pay attention, and when class was over I went outside to find everyone. I saw them at the edge of the parking lot and walked over.

"Hey Maya, the movie starts at 7" Jessica said, I nodded "alright, I'll be there" I said, Jessica looked past me and then nudged me. "What?" I asked, looking where she was looking, Jasper was standing a little ways away, looking at me.

"I'll be right back" I said, walking over to Jasper, "hey, why weren't you at school today?" I asked, he glanced at my friends and sighed. "Can we talk in private?" He asked, I nodded "sure" I said.

He put his hand on my back and led me inside, the school was empty since everybody had gone home already. We stopped in an empty hallway and I turned to face him, "so? What happened?" I asked.

"We have to leave" he said, I crossed my arms, "okay, I'll have to think of something to tell my dad, is Bella coming too?" I asked. He sighed, looking me in the eyes, "you... you don't want me to come..." I realized.

"Yesterday, I lost control, I almost killed you... and Bella... I can't let myself hurt you again" he said, I shook my head. "Yesterday was an accident, it wasn't your fault" I said.

"No, Maya, I couldn't control myself, I hurt you" he said.

"It's just a scratch" I said, putting a hand on my injured arm, "Maya..." he whispered, I felt myself start to shake. "Jasper, please, don't do this" I pleaded.

"It's not just you, Carlisle is supposed to be 10 years older than he looks, people are starting to notice" he said. I shook my head "please Jasper, don't do this, let me come with you, I promise you won't hurt me" I said.

"You can't promise that, you can't come with me, I can't let you" he said, tears slipped down my face as I stared at him. "Jasper... please... don't do this... don't leave me... I love you..." I begged, grabbing his hand.

"I'm sorry... my love... I have to..." he said, starting to walk away, his hand slipped away from mine and I watched as he left the school. Tears rolled down my face and dropped down to the floor as I sank to my knees, I leaned against the wall and pulled my knees up to my chest.

"Jasper..." I whispered, crying loudly as I curled up in the corner of the hall, "Maya?" Someone called. I buried my face in my hands, "Maya!" Someone gasped, running over and crouching next to me.

"Maya! Maya! What happened?" The person asked, I looked up to see Angela, Mike, Eric, and Jessica. "Maya, what happened?" Mike asked as I continued to cry, "Jasper... he's gone... the Cullen's... they left me..." I cried.

"Call someone" Angela said to them, "who?" Eric asked as I curled up even tighter, "her dad, or Bella, or her mom" Angela said. Jessica pulled out her phone and dialled someone's number. "Charlie Swan? This is Jessica, Maya's friend, you need to get here now" she said.

She put her phone back in her pocket as Mike pulled me into a hug, I grabbed the fabric of his t-shirt in my balled up fists as he rubbed my back comfortingly. "He's on his way" Jessica said.

"You hear that? Your dad is coming, it's gonna be okay" Mike said as I continued to cry, he held me for what felt like an hour before someone came bursting through the doors.

"Maya!" Charlie ran over and dropped to one knee, taking me from Mike, "Maya, look at me, what happened?" He asked.

I couldn't speak, I just kept crying, "Jasper broke up with her, because the Cullen's have to leave town" Jessica said. Charlie picked me up and stood, "it's gonna be okay, we're going home" he whispered.

He carried me to the car and put me in the passengers seat, getting into the drivers seat and starting the car. He started driving as I stopped crying, I couldn't cry anymore, there were no tears left, just numbness.

We pulled into the driveway an he got out, walking around the front of the car and opening my door. I got out slowly, my vision was fuzzy and I couldn't focus on anything, he put his hand on my back and guided me inside.

I went upstairs and closed the door, then another wave hit me, more tears poured down my face as I fell to the ground. I punched the floor and screamed in anger, Charlie came running upstairs and saw me.

"Why did they leave?! He said he loved me! HOW COULD HE DO THIS TO ME?!?!" I screamed, hitting the floor again before curling up in a ball against my bed. Charlie sat down next to me and pulled me into a hug.

"It's gonna be okay..." he said as I cried, as the tears fell and my sobbing gradually became quieter, I eventually fell asleep. He put me in my bed and covered me in my blankets, turning my light off before leaving.

Don't ask why I made her have a screaming fit, I wrote this 2 weeks ago at 3am, I have no idea what was going on in my brain that night...
