Charlie
Beep. Beep. Beep. I slam down on the button that turns off my alarm. I've been awake for hours already watching my favorite vines (yeah I know it's 2020, but idk what year it is, I will always love them). I look at my clock and see 7:30 is illuminated on the screen in blocky red font.
I gasp! I'm supposed to be at my stylists house at 8, but his house is at least 45 minutes away! I hop out of bed and put on some non-descript grey sweatpants and a forest green champion sweatshirt. I grab some big aviator sunglasses and slip them onto my small face. I toss my long brown hair in a super messy bun and slip on my converse. In one fluid motion I kiss my dog good bye and dash out of the house.
At this point I'm on the road, but even though it's 8 in the morning, there's still plenty of cars crowding up the streets. Ugh, Californian drivers are the worst!
I'm looking at the clock in my car and up to the filled streets and know I'm never going to make it to my stylist in time. I better call him I guess.
I press a little button that activates my blue tooth, and give it a few commands.
"Call Mario." I say in a clear tone, really trying to enunciate my words.
"Calling Mom. Is this correct?" The robot lady asks me
"No!!" I love my mom, but if I call her she will never get off the phone!
"Call canceled"
"Call Mario." I tried to say it even clearer, but once again she chose the wrong person.
This went on quite a few times until finally it pulled itself together and called Mario.
"Ciao" He greets me.
"Hey Mario! I just wanted to give you a heads up that I'm running late." I explained.
"Really?? I hadn't noticed. It's only 8:14 and you're still! Not! Hear!!!" He shouted at me sarcastically in his thick Italian accent.
"I know I know and I'm sorry, but...umm..." I was struggling to come up with a valid excuse.
"Girl! You and I both know you just weren't paying attention okay!!"
"Yeah, but I-"
"No. There's no valid excuse!" He interrupted.
"What if there was though?" I questioned.
"Charlie I've know you now for about two years now okay. You're good at a lot of things! Singing (obviously bc that's your job), you're charasmaric, you're very funny. But you never have valid excuses! I know you have no reason!"
"I do have a reas-" I start
"No good reason!" He once again cuts me off.
"Okay yeah that's true, but also there's a lot of traffic!"
"Are you on Fourth Street?" He asks worriedly.
"Yeah why?"
"Dio mio!" He exclaims. "There's been a huge car wreck down there! I saw it on the news. Okay I'm going to take you on a short cut."
"Mario!" I shout "I thought you said you knew me!?!"
"I do, and I know you are bad at directions and short cuts, but these are very simple!" He promised.
He gave me some seemingly simple instructions and though I was confused I tried to convince him that I 100% knew what he was talking about.
"Alright now the studio for your interview should be on the left. Do you see it?"
"Well..." I looked around and only saw small houses all around me.
"Posso farlo! I need to be paid more!" He exclaimed!
"Okay don't panic I'll put it in my GPS." I reassured him.
"Ugh okay." He sighed. "Good luck."
"Thank you! I got this."
"Surrrre you do." I was mildly offended that he didn't believe in me, but I guess it made sense.
I put in the address of the interview center in my GPS and started following the simple directions. It was about 1 hour away with wasn't too bad given that I had to be there in an hour fifteen minutes.
I was slowly going through traffic thinking about the many questions I was about to be bombarded with. There was one specific question I was dreading though; "Who are you taking to The Canyon Moon?". You see, The Canyon Moon is a major art gala that all the major celebrities have been invited to. It's been around a long time and it has a few traditions. The main two are looking awesome and having a great date. I have no idea why but it just is what it is at this point.
Now my romantic life always gets brought up at these things, I guess they just think I'm 19 so of course I'm going to think about a boyfriend. I don't really know. I don't have one, and everyone in Hollywood wanted to know why when I first got famous. At first I just tried to shrug the question off, but eventually I gave in. So here's the reason, let me tell you before you here some twisted version from People Magazine or something.
So when I was in High School I fell in love with a friend of mine Harry Styles. I never told the press his name for privacy reasons you know. So once him and a few friends if mine were in the hall outside of our choir room just messing around, and I started to sing. That hall had great acoustics because it was concrete all around and it was pretty small. Well, one of my friends took a video of me and it went viral. I got signed to Universal Music Group, but it meant I had to move to California. I was super excited but that meant I had to leave Harry. It probably didn't matter because I'm pretty sure he only saw me as a friend but for some reason it still really hurt. It was my last day in November and as per usual Seattle weather it was dumping buckets outside reflecting my mood. I said goodbye to my friends saving Harry for last. Honestly no one was sad, they were all just so excited for me. I got to Harry and gave him a big hug saying that I as was going to miss him and he said he would miss me too, but that was it. When the school bell rang all the students dispersed and I was alone in that same hallway where this adventure started. I realized I had to tell Harry how I felt even if he didn't reciprocate those feelings. I ran through the concrete halls, my converse skidding at each corner. I flew down the stairs, skipping a through. I felt as if I was running for my life or something. I pushed the industrial double doors open and entered the back student parking lot. I spotted Harry's car across the lot and I started running for it. I got to the other side soaking wet at this point but I made it. I called out his name and skidded to a stop but my clumsy self tripped over the curb and started to fall. Fortunately for me Harry grabbed me by the arms and pulled me up. I wanted to tell him I loved him really bad, and tell him that he's done so much for me and that I would never be able to fully thank him, but I chickened out. I just couldn't do it. I can never look someone in the eye and tell them I love them. Anyways, I just ended up telling him I was really going to miss him and he hugged me and said he would miss me too. Then that was that. I haven't seen Harry since then.
That doesn't stop my from thinking about him though. A if my songs are about him, and not a day goes by in which I don't think about what could have happened if I was just out right about my feelings for him. I loved him. I really loved Harry Styles, but I had to forget about him.
I had to.
