Defiant Feelings

Chapter 1

The sun shone brightly on my face that day. I realized that today is my second day of school. I looked at the clock and realized that I only had one hour to get ready for school.
"Sera! Hurry up you're late!!" My mom called me from downstairs. "Goodness.. Are you even awake..?!"
"I'm coming down in ten minutes..!" I responded.
I hurried and changed into my uniform and fixed my hair.
Hmm.. I wonder, is today going to be a bad or good day..?
I thought to myself with a deep sigh.
After eating breakfast, I rushed out to the door realizing I only had ten minutes left.
" Mom! I'll see you later!" I said while running out to the door.
As I was running, I noticed some students with the same uniform as me. I ran up to them to ask a question without hesitation. "U-u-umm..! Y-you guys look like you're f-from the same school as me." I said while panting
One of the guys answered me,"Yeah. And.. What do you exactly need from us..?"
" Am I late..!? I mean.. When does the school exactly close the gates?"
" Hmm.. In about five minutes.."
"H-huh..?!"
"Yeah.. you better--"
I started sprinting right before he could even finish his sentence; I'll go look for him at school and apologize to him later. The moment I reached the gate, I looked around me and realized that the students are still roaming around. There were students eating sweets, pastries, snacks on the benches, there were also some students doing random stuff. While I was in confusion, a hand reached onto my shoulder.
Who.. Is this.?! I thought to myself. I then turned around and realized it was the guy from earlier.
He must be angry.. I thought to myself, worried.
"Why did you run off so suddenly..?" he asked me.
"Well.. That's.."
"You must be new here, huh..? I was going to tell you that we won't be having classes today." he said while laughing at me.
"Tch.." I suddenly got annoyed and walked away.
"Oh yeah! Girl, today's the day where you can sign up for student pres.!" he shouted out to me.
I looked back and saw that him and his friends were surrounded by girls. I gave an irritated expression to him and turned back.
So it seems that he is one of those what you call "womanizers".. I thought to myself.
I started looking for the student president applications when I suddenly heard a group of girls talking about a story in front of a tree. I took interest and sat on the bench behind that tree, I then took out a book to pretend I wasn't listening to their conversation. Then the story started.
"Hey, have you guys heard about the story about this girl named Sera? Well everyone used to call her the Academy's 'Demon Princess". Well there was someone worse, the person who made her do all of those sins. You know who it is..? Alex, the guy that every girl admires today. They used to call him ' The Dark Fox'. They did so much back in middle school.. I don't even want to tell you guys.. Well you know how they got their names though..? Sera got her name from her looks and her demon-like attitude; Alex got his name for being, you know.. A 'wild fox'...?"
Just then the group of girls suddenly fell into silence.
"Umm.. Hey.. Isn't that Sera..?" one girl asked.
She seemed scared.
I've had enough of this..!
I suddenly stood up from the bench where I was sitting at and turned around to face the group of girls.
"What's wrong if I'm 'Sera'?" I asked them and gave a gentle smile.
"Well that's.. Because of.. The rumors..! Yeah the rumors!"
"Rumors are rumors.."
"B-but.."
"People change.." I answered the girl with and even gentler smile.
The girls stared at each other and looked back at me.
"Oh! Um yeah! Where do you get the student president applications..?" I suddenly asked them to get rid of the akward atmosphere.
"In front of the student council room.." one girl answered me.
"Oh, umm.. Where exactly is that..? I don't seem to remember anymore.. hehe.."
"Right down that hallway."
"Thank you!" I gave a big smile and quickly walked over in that direction.
"Um wait!" one girl called out to me.
Hearing her call out to me, I stop and look back.
"Um..! Would you like to h-have lunch with us today..?!" She asked shyly but filled with confidence.
"Sure!" I answered happily and quickly walked over to the student council room again. I finally walked over to the student coucil room and found a thick pile of applications sitting on a sturdy but tiny table.
"It seems like not that much students are interested...." I whispered to myself.
I leaned onto the wall and started reading the application.
ARE YOU READY TO TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY? THEN COME AND BECOME THIS SCHOOL'S PRESIDENT!

It really doesn't sound interesting. I hurried and took out a pen from my bag and filled in the application. Just when I was done filling in the application, I heard footsteps of a few people coming closer.
I guess there are some people that are interested...
I ignored the footsteps and looked for the box where I should submit the application.
"Se...Sera..?" An oddly familiar voice called out to my name.
