Let's just start off with "What is a sprite???" Not a fairy, but many pixels. If you don't know what a pixel is, I don't know how to explain this to you. Look it up if you need. Anyways, A sprite is a two dimensional picture made up of different colored pixels. A common place to find them is Mario Maker You know the blocky (8-bit) Mario? That is a sprite. Now why would those be useful?
This is an example of Sprites These aren't just drawn out on a screen, but carefully made. As you can see, they are used for animation. Also, they are used for most old video games. Look up "NES Mario" and you'll find sprites.
How do you animate them? Three words. Copy and Paste. Over and over again. There are things called Sprite Sheets that have different pictures of Sprites other people made online. You copy and paste one after another going in a certain order.
Finally, You don't need to have a fancy system to sprite. You can make your own. I make sprites by filling in squares of a grid on a paint app or coloring grid paper! It's that easy!
