A Thief
I came to a place, unnerving and hectic where everyone said to stay away from you, even me at first.
You come, you take and you run away, knowing what you do.
You never show your face or reveal who you are and you like it that way.
So small, you are to skip about, unnoticed, but make your presence aware.
Despite constant warning, red alarms blaring, I let you in.
A lunatic on the loose, running about, yet keeping to yourself.
Quietly taking note of your surroundings, memorizing who to pounce on next and scar the mere innocent.
Not caring of what happens to you, what happens to others, the past cannot be undone and not something you hold on to.
Like a drug, so tempting to touch and have.
That's who you really are, that and a mask.
You can't be trusted, but ah, the aroma that keeps your prey coming back for more.
I was a fool to let you in.
