Prologue
'You sure you will be okay by yourself?' The young officer looked at the skinny young boy in front of her, uncertain of what to say as a farewell.
'Yes, I will be fine, my cousin will be waiting for me nearest bus stop.' He smiled sweetly and grabbed the bag that was sitting beside him. 'Well, I will be going then.'
'Ah. Yes, here are all your documents, make sure you don't come back again, yes? I don't want to see your face appearing here again anytime soon.' The officer stood up awkwardly and handed a small pile of papers to the boy.
'I won't! Thank you officer! Bye!' The boy said happily and walked towards another officer that had came in. Smiling brightly, he waved to the young woman and winked.
The boy followed the older officer out of the door into the courtyard, as he walked, he waved goodbye to the few that looked at him intensely, jealousy clearly shown on their faces. Another set of door and corridors, they finally reached the front gate, locked with security items, the large metal door gave an intimidating aura to its surroundings. As it slowly creaked open, he breathed for the first time in a year the fresh air of freedom, he looked out into the empty yet comforting fields, finally he was back into the normal world.
'Be careful on your way, and don't come back ever again, okay?' The older officer looked at him harshly, but he made no comments and simply smiled as he walked out to the other side of the gate.
He stopped and waited for the metal door to shut, before unzipping and taking out a dark cap. Putting it on his head, he typed a list a numbers onto his phone and waited patiently.
'Hello, this is the Sunshine Coffee Shop, how can I help you?'
'Ken. I am back.' He smirked and slowly walked away from his one year home.
The sun shined brightly onto the dull, lifeless building behind him, yet its name that was carved into the building was the only thing that was light, seemingly mocking the people trapped behind the gate.
