On the bus back home,Mabel thought back to the conversation she'd had with the man. He hadn't offered any information about himself even though he had a lot of knowledge about her background. "Did you all think that I would let it go because he's dead." Mabel shook her head at him."I don't think I understand what you are saying. My dad is dead and if he was owing any debt like you claim he is, I would know. Heck, even my mom would know.so you are wrong." He looked at her for a moment then unlocked the suitcase . "Your dad signed an agreement stating that he would return the money and that he and his family should be held accountable if he doesn't."
Mabel looked at the agreement slip he had in his hands. She refused to believe him. "And what if this is all a lie. Maybe it is just a game to you. Maybe it's just your sick way of taking people's money but I won't fall for this shit." He quirked his lips which made shivers run down her body usually she could predict what people would do or say but he was different." Tell me Miss Winston, do I look like someone who indulges in the stupidity that people call game." She looked him through and kept shut. "I thought so."  Mabel swallowed. She already begun to believe him. "Can...Can I see that?" She felt her world crumbling down as she examined the paper in her hand. She froze in shock as her eyes zeroed in on the total amount her father owed. "Why don't I tell you a little bit about your father. Before your father got himself involved in gambling, he was into dangerous jobs that would get him fast money. Then he met your mother but before that he was already deep into gambling. He tried changing for your mom but he was already neck deep." He paused and watched her as she read what was in her hands then continued. "There are somethings that we all want to get rid of but we can't because  it's like an itch reminding us of its very presence.so most times he'd go to the gambling ring and gamble away all of his money and when he had none,he'd always go to the owner of the gambling ring and ask for some money.he had already signed an agreement before taking the money. But as you can see, he never got to do so as death snatched him away before he could do it." At that moment, she felt like sinking into the ground. She was speechless for a little while then she spoke. "Why are you doing this? Can't you just leave us be. I mean am sure that you have enough money to hold you up for a lifetime and you probably don't even have need for this money." "And who are you to tell me what I need and don't need." She was about to explain that they had no way of paying the debt but somehow she knew that there was no point begging and his next words proved her right. "You have about now to tell me how you plan on making payments to cover up the debts Miss Winston. I have a meeting coming up and you are holding me up."She knew she had to do something at that moment. She'd make the sacrifice even though she knew it'd cost her but she'd do it for her family. Her next question stunned him a little bit as he stopped drumming his fingers on his leg. "Will you take me as the payment for all the debts?"
He paused for a moment then looked up at her. "Be rest assured that when I do, I won't let you go until am sure you've paid all." Shivers ran down her spine but she stood firm and gave a nod. "You have tomorrow to pack your things. I will send a car to fetch you the next. I believe we are done Miss Winston."
