CHAPTER THREE

I got ready quickly and ran into the kitchen. It was only 6:20 so I thought it would only be me, but there I found Mom, Dad and Chris finishing up their breakfast. This is too weird. Mom and Dad I can understand but Chris? He never wakes up earlier than I do. If he's excited, his face doesn't show a thing. Mom and Dad are all dressed and they seem nervous. Why should they be? They're seeing their own daughter for goodness sake. Mom and Dad want everything to be "normal" and by the way they're acting, our house is going everything but normal. Mom started doing strange chores inside the house: dusting the picture frames (what?), cleaning up Lauren room (which hasn't been touched since Lauren last came home), properly placing pillows on the couches (we normally just throw them wherever). Dad did the same outside: cleaning the pool (as if Lauren would care about a couple of leaves floating around), washing the windows (since when did he do that?). So much for normal...
