"Please state your name and how you're related to the defendant" the lawyer asked as he stood infront of him.

"My name is Jeremy Johnson, and the defendant is my stepfather" he replied glancing at the man sitting next to his lawyer.

The jury looked at the defendant, they couldn't believe that someone could do that to another human being.

"What can you tell us about the day you were assaulted?" He asked walking to his desk, Jeremy sighed as he started recalling the horrific incident.

"Scott I'm home!" He yelled as he threw his backpack on the floor. He went to the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of water.

"Oh welcome back" Scott said smiling at him, Scott was Jeremy's stepfather, his mother was a military officer so she was on a tour in Iraq so it was just the both of them.

"Has mom called yet?" Jeremy asked in hope, his mother usually calls when he's at school but today he came back early so he's excited.

"She will in a few minutes buddy, freshen up and I'll start on dinner" Scott said opening the fridge.

After he finished his shower, he put on a pair of boxers and a large tshirt and headed downstairs, he saw Scott placing plates on the table, dinner was steak and asparagus with some potato wedges.

"Looks yummy" he complimented, Scott smiled as he placed his tablet on the table, they were waiting for Violet's call.

It didn't take long for them to wait, the tablet vibrated on the table, Jeremy smiled as he flipped the cover and answered the video call.

"Hey mom"

"Hey guys, wow what a feast you got there"

"Hey honey, how's Iraq?"

"Still getting there, won't be back after some time though, how are you guys?"

"Oh today i joined a softball club"

"That's great honey, what about you Scott?"

"I earned a million dollar contract, nothing much"

"My boys are growing up, seems like i have to go, I'll call after three days okay?"

"Bye mom, love you!"

Jeremy sighed as he placed the tablet back on the table,

"Don't be sad buddy"

"I'm just worried that's all"

"Yeah me too, go do your homework while i finish up in here" he said standing up, Jeremy nodded and went upstairs.

"I agree, Mr Johnson, get to the point please, the assault" the judge said impatiently.

"Yes your honor, Jeremy, continue" his lawyer, Harry urged him, Jeremy nodded.

Jeremy sighed as he placed his phone on the night stand, he closed his eyes until he heard footsteps approach his door, he listened for any movement but it was silent for a few seconds then he heard the click of his bedroom door...the door was opening.
