Rose petals drizzled throughout the city grazing your tender skin as you watched the blissful boy before you confess his yearning love to the librarian that worked at your small book shop.
Time had stopped before you. You're breathing hitched in your throat as you watched the boy you where so very fond of confess to another woman. You felt tears prickle your eyes as he proceeded to lift up the woman in Joyce as they twirled around.

You couldn't stop the waterworks but you didn't want them to see your pained expression so instead of staying to congratulate him you sped off  into the blurring rose petals, the rose petals that once touched your tender skin now felt like scrapes and scratches being littered across your body. You just wanted to get away, far, far away from the blissful scene that has unraveled before you but wherever you turned you saw another couple and images of the flower boy confessing his love once flooded your mind again.
So you decided to run into the nearest shop with the least amount of valentine decorations and once you arrived in there you collapsed legs weak from the sudden heart break and the adrenaline coursing through your veins.

"Stupid, stupid, stupid. You just had to fall in love so easily. And now you're gonna have to see them everyday at work, you idiot" you cursed yourself for being so gullible to think that such a kind man would ever like you let alone love you.
You sobbed silently, but aggressively letting yourself wallow in the store. You didn't want to stop crying it was the only thing keeping you sane right now but then you heard a voice along with footsteps echo through the store bouncing off the shelves filled with books and old antiques.

"Excuse me, but are you okay? It seems like something is troubling you." You looked up to be met with a fragile looking old lady. Her wrinkles layered her skin but in a somewhat graceful way, she had a pure white pixie cut and yellow eyes that reminded you of a feline. She approached you with a box of tissues in her hand and spoke again handing you the pure white tissue that resembled her hair color.
"Such a pretty lady such as yourself shouldn't be crying like this. Tsk who's got you feeling this way on this special day?"
You gazed into her yellow eyes and gently grabbed the tissue that she handed out to you, you began to wipe away your tears and spoke but your voice cracked it was a symbol of your now broken heart "it's nothing the flower petals in the air are just making my allergies act up" and before you could finish your excuse the tears where threatening to spill again.

"Now hey. Wipe those tears and come drink some tea with me." She handed you the rest of the box of tissues and motioned to a table for you to sit at. You picked yourself up and placed yourself on top of the chair that complimented the table. The chair had a cushion which was surprising really comfortable, your face formed into a strained smile 'my heart may still hurt but at least my bottom is feeling nice' . You began to examine where exactly you where, you began inspecting the exotic statues and antiques that littered on the the shelves, your curiosity then shifted to the stacks of books around you.

"Do you like books?" The old woman suddenly asked you as she began to pour you a cup of piping hot tea. You nodded your head yes in approval, as she handed you the cup of tea you couldn't help but feel soothed by the warmth steam that was erupting from the scorching mug in your tight grasp.
"Well then why don't you take one. I've recently gotten these off the market and have no need for them." You looked at the woman and smiled tenderly at her kind gesture.
"I couldn't possibly besides I didn't bring any money with me" she shook her head and gestured a book towards you that had a lock on it.

"Then take this one, I can't open it anyway so I have no use for it and as payment you tell me your name" she gave you a smile of encouragement as your hand brushed against the book. You looked at the book, it was smooth but rough around the edges, there was no cover besides the words engraved in it that read "A kiss a day". As you hesitantly took the book you gave her your name "(y/n)".
She looked at you with a reassuring smile "well now you must be off now. This old lady needs to get some rest." She urged you out of her shop and before you could reject she slammed the door right behind you shouting "come again I enjoyed your company."

You wanted to be angered at being shoved out the store so quickly, but your mind trailed back to the book in front of you. Brushing your finger against the lock on the book you headed back to your own book shop which was current vacant due to the joyous holiday that only seemed to bring you suffering. You started to remember the reason your heart broke again and quickly rushed down to your hidden home under your small shop.
As you made your way down the steps of your humble bungalow you scattered to your bedroom. You had lived alone, you never met your parents and where raised by your brother. Your older brother Jean had originally owned this shop but he passed away do to a deadly disease leaving you by yourself.
But at moments like this made you remember when he'd read you stories about a princess being rescued by a prince. You had thought that Kay was gonna be the prince to sweep you off your feet but you where so wrong because he was in love with the girl that worked at your book shop.
You began to silently cry again but no tears came. It seemed you where empty now so you looked at the book you had just received from the old woman and reed the words on it.
"A kiss a day" you whispered and then you felt yourself closing your eyes and pressing your lips against the book.

When you opened your eyes you jumped from shock. The book had been replaced with a man. You quickly covered your mouth averting your gaze away from him and began to apologize.
"I-I'm so sorry!! w-wait.. why am I apologizing, who are you!?"
You began to back away fearfully from the man who had appeared out of no where. "Can you shut up?" He growled out roughly leaving you incredibly intimidated by his hardening glare.

"Damn Humans. You guys are always getting scared by the simplest things. And you're so damn loud." he grumbled again. You quickly searched for a weapon to defend yourself with just in case the man where to attack you. Out the corner of your eye you spotted a toothpaste bottle and pointed it at him "stay back!! Or I'll-"

"Or you'll what?" He pushed himself up from the ground and snatched the bottle of dental hygiene away from you. You quickly tried to scamper off of the ground and out of your room in hopes of reaching the kitchen for a better weapon but before you could reach your door he dragged you by your leg hoisted you up and tossed you on your own bed.

"Will you calm down. Damn you're being over dramatic. " he peered over your trembling form.
"CALM DOWN!!, calm down!, listen here you. I've been having a pretty shitty day and was hoping that maybe I could read the book a kind old lady gave to me but instead you appear!"
You where about to continue on with your rant but you felt his lips push against yours roughly as he pinned your arms down and straddled you so you couldn't escape.
He then pulled his lips away leaving you a flustered mess "Wow you're a feisty one I see but no matter cause now that I've got you let me explain the situation doe eyes" you nodded your head slowly ignoring the stupid nick name he gave you. "Okay as you can guess I'm the book you brought home, but not really I'm a demon I was banished into that book by and old hag. Somehow you've temporarily released me with those soft lips of yours. " His eyes then examined your lips carefully leaning in to steal another kiss from you, but before he could you loosened your grasp from him and kicked him off causing him to land on your floor with a loud grunt.
"Serves you right! I don't care what you are but you just can't go around kissing random people!" you shouted lightly beginning to examine his form that was now on the floor.
He had dark messy hair that kind of suited him and and deep emerald eyes, his skin was pale but a warm pale that kind of made him resemble a manly princess, and whenever he talked you could see sharp fangs in his mouth.?With his appearance you probably would had fallen for him if he wasn't so rude and rough.

He groaned but continued to lay on the ground while closing his eyes. "I'm sleepy, can you shut your trap doe face."
" Excuse me. I have a name you know and it's (y/n). Also this is my house!" You shouted again.
"This is hardly a house." he retorted with a scoff. Your face scrunched up in anger but you decided to let it go. "Well at least go sleep somewhere else, you're making me uncomfortable." Suddenly you wanted to take back those words because the man plopped himself on your bed and gripped your waist pulling you closer to him causing you to feel his soft heartbeat. You where about to shout but his hand collapsed on your mouth preventing you from doing so. He then whispered. "Shut up I'm trying to sleep and you're gonna be my pillow for the night. Okay doe face?" You shook your head no out of protest but that didn't stop him from falling asleep with a tight grip on your body.
