There once was a time centuries ago when a wolf had two heads. It was believed they were soulmates and combined as one. It was easier for them to be together. It was believed their connection was stronger that way, but no one is sure anymore.
The wolves who had once been together as one was separated into two wolves. The soulmates were no longer one wolf. They were two now. The God who feared the wolves with two heads was more powerful than him, separated every other wolf with two heads in the entire world.
The same God couldn't help, but pity them since some wolves got lost from their soulmate and it could take a very long time to find them. So he gave them immortality. He granted them the option of shifting meaning they could change between human and wolf. Werewolves were made.
He told them they needed to provide for both their human spirit and wolf spirit or bad things would come. He said their human spirit and wolf spirit needed equal satisfaction which meant they needed to give their human side time as a human and their wolf side time as a wolf.
As a human, you are required to socialize, eat human food, master skills, and build a life. As a wolf, there are primal needs and instincts. A wolf is ready to hunt and they will want to run. The wolf spirit craves to run and hunt. They have senses better than humans.
Yet, the human's side had the senses they would have in their wolf form. Even if the human side of them wasn't in control, it was the wolf side.
Werewolves were grateful to be both human and wolf. They were grateful to be immortal and they couldn't ever be more thankful. They did as told when it was required to give the human spirit and wolf spirit the needs they required because they feared what bad was to come if they didn't give their spirits equal satisfaction.
That doesn't mean werewolves didn't ever give enough satisfaction to one of their spirits. If they gave more satisfaction to their human side, they would lose their wolf spirit and their human spirit would be weakened severely. Most don't survive this consequence if they give more satisfaction to their human side than their wolf.
If they didn't give their human side the satisfaction required, then the human spirit will be killed and they would forever be stuck as a wolf. These wolves become hostile, aggressive, and dangerous. They are called lone wolves.
Most werewolves do follow the instructions given by the God who granted them a human side. They are so grateful to be human and wolf.
Centuries later, there was an evolution in werewolves. The werewolves got taller, more built and everything about them was better. One downfall was that females couldn't shift into their wolves. They were immortal and still had the senses their wolf side would have, but they couldn't shift. No one knows why.
The God who had created werewolves had a daughter. The name of his daughter is Selene. She was a great deal in history. She still is. Selene, Goddess of Moon, night, and the creatures of the night.
She took a liking to werewolves at such a young age. She would love to hear stories from her father. As she grew old enough to take over to be Goddess, her father left to the Ancient city Gods and Goddesses go to once they are retired from their duty.
Selene still is in contact with her father who is proud of her work. She's continued to make the werewolf kind grow.
Selene had taking an interest in a particular werewolf family that was strong. They were born warriors and they were born to fight till the death. Which is impossible.
