Instead of answering it, she kept on watching the show, pretending that it might have just been another spam caller. Once the house phone stopped ringing, her phone rang instead. With that she sighed out of annoyance and quickly paused the episode and checked the caller ID before answering it.
"Dad, what's up?"
"Is this Islani Sommers?", asked a deep voice.
With a sudden wave of anxiety, she replied, "Yes, w-why do you have my dad's phone?"
"I'm sorry but I regret to inform you that your dad got involved in a car crash and is now in the hospital at the intensive care-"
