Iwaizumi pushed open his front door, bracing for the impact of his dog, Tofu. Tofu ran up and jumped on him, tail wagging as consistently as ever. Iwa laughed and scratched him behind the ears, squeezing his eyes shut as the smothering of dog kisses attacked his face.

"Okay, okay, Tofu, down. I gotta get ready. The guys are gonna be here soon to study and play some volleyball." Tofu's tongue lolled stupidly out of his smiling mouth, and he returned all four paws to the floor. He followed Iwaizumi up the stairs to his bedroom.

Iwa set his bag down next to his bed, and stretched, looking out the window to his backyard. He thought of all the times he and Tooru had practiced for hours, until it was too dark to see and their arms were sore. He sure hoped Kindaichi and Yahaba had convinced Oikawa to come. He knew the chances were slim, but he and Kunimi would be unstoppable for this three on three if he joined.

Unstoppable. Iwa smiled as a memory tugged at his thoughts.

"Hajime, how many of your friends are coming over today?" Iwa's mom called up to him from the bottom of the stairs. He thought.

"Shouldn't be more than five, probably. We're doing a three-on-three." He heard his mom chuckle.

"Alright. Just don't make too much noise, don't break any windows, and remember curfew for friends is ten. Unless they're staying over."

"Mhm, okay," he shouted back. He pulled off his school uniform shirt and looked for something more casual. He settled on a soft blue tee shirt and some grey sweatpants. He thought about shorts, but it was chilly outside. He grabbed his volleyball off the floor, not bothering with shoes. The grass in his backyard was fine for his feet. He ran back downstairs, planning on serving some in the back before the guys arrived.

He walked past the island in the kitchen and grabbed an apple, making for the back door. Before he got there, someone knocked on the front. He stopped in his tracks. Tofu ran ahead of him and bolted through the dog door.

The only person who'd make it to Iwa's house so fast, without going home first... there was only one person who'd do that. Could it possibly be?

"Hajime! Don't be rude, quit standing there like a deer in headlights and get the door. I'm busy here," his mom chided him and stirred some sort of batter in a mixing bowl. He snapped out of his shock and jogged to get the door as the person knocked again. He faltered at the doorknob. He didn't want to get his hopes up, but who else could it be?
