This is a long one
"Today is my Sixteenth birthday, and I know exactly what I want."

Growing up,I had always had a normal life, except for the fact that the small town I lived in down in the south was heavily religious, the bad part being that my parents were atheist.Almost all of the families around us were christians, and were not afraid to shove it down your throat without a care about the consequences that may come.I even heard a rumor about a muslim woman and her daughter getting chased out of town with no where else to go,or a story about a young jewish man "disappearing" after only spending two days here.Either way,it was in general a bad place to be if you didn't look up to anyone but god,but my parents jobs only paid so much so we were sadly stuck.I had gone to christian schools most of my life, but my parents being atheist kind of wore off the "god" aspect of my education and I instead just focused more on trying to graduate to get a decent job.Now that i'm about to graduate high school meant I had to put absolute one hundred percent in getting the grades I needed. Not just for myself but for my parents too, because we were all pitching in on trying to get out of this cursed place we sadly called home.

KNOCK KNOCK

"Honey,are you ready yet?"

Quickly putting my shoes on and grabbing my backpack,I tiredly shuffled my way towards the kitchen where my mom was, pouring some orange juice into a glass and setting it done on the table in front of a plate of what looked to be waffles. My dad had to leave for work pretty early in the morning,so I never get to see him I get back home from school,so it was just me and my mom in the mornings.Sitting down at the table as my mom prepared herself a small breakfast while watching the news,I started eating my waffles with quick bites,in a hurry since after school I needed to get to the bus stop early to tell my friend about the "plan" we had after school. After finishing my breakfast,I placed the glass and plate in the sink and grabbing my backpack and rushing out the door, not before yelling a quick "bye" and "love you" to my mom. When I reached the bus stop my friend,Ally was already waiting for me.Ally and I had been friends since middle school, and often try to meet each other early so we'ed at least have some time to hang out before separating.

"Hey,you get the stuff?"I whispered to her

Even though there wasn't anybody around us I didn't want to take any risked of being heard one of the neighbors and possibly getting the both of us into trouble.

"Hell yeah I did"Ally whispered back to me with a small smirk on her face

Unzipping her bag slightly and leaning it over,I peered inside to take a quick look. There lied inside a ouija board and planchette specially designed by one of Ally's close friends who were looking to make some quick money and took the offer quite fast. You see,I had always been into things demonic and deemed 'witchcraft',it was always the things that I wasn't supposed to like that I had interest in.Zipping her bag back up and trying our best not to look suspicious, the bus pulled up and the doors opened,oh how I could not wait to get home.

School passed by pretty slowly, mostly because all I could think about was getting home and 'play' with my new toy. When the final bell rang,I dashed out of class towards my locker, going at a quick pace to put things away and put some things in.Me and Ally met up at the bus stop, but since there was other kids around us,we had to stand in silence and wait for our bus to show up,we were both going to the same place so we could just discuss on our way back to my place.Once we reached my house,I unlocked the front door and closed the door while Ally went to my room upstairs to set up everything. My parents were going to be out for the night, probably planning the 'perfect' sweet sixteen party for me,so I knew that we were going to be alone for a long time.It was now night time and me and Ally were about to start, and to make even all the more scary,I turned all the lights in the house off to the only light source would be the candles that we lit.Once I had everything set up and Ally was done lighting the candles we sat across from with the ouija board in front of us in the lightly dimmed room.

"Are you sure you know what you're doing Raven? This can be really dangerous if we mess up."Ally asked with slight fear and hesitation in her voice.
"Of course I know,I read everything made sure I didn't miss one step"I responded back with confidence.
"Ok,if you say so"

Placing our pointing fingers on the planchette and saying a short hello,we had officially opened the door to the spirit world, and there was no going back. For the first couple of minutes, our questions were answered with either a short 'yes' or 'no',nothing specific or out of the ordinary.I eventually got bored of the dull questions being asked and decided to go a little outside the box.

"What am most I afraid of?"I asked the apparent spirit.
"Raven!"Ally yelled, this time with nothing but fear.
"No,I want to see if it knows"I said with a hint of both playfulness and boredom in my voice.

We both watched as the planchette froze for a second, this was common so we weren't that fazed, this usually happens before the spirit answers with either a yes or a no,but this time,I seemed like it was sitting there was a longer time. After a minute or two,the planchette slowly moved around the board, going from letter to letter as Ally and I sound it out

D-A-R-K-N-E-S-S

I froze in my place. My fingers started shaking as the adrenaline pumped through my body in pure terror.Nether me or Ally knew what to do,so we just stared in shock hoping that we were just hallucinating.Ally looked up at me,but her face changed from fear to scared and confused as she stared back at me.

L-O-O-K

"What are you looking at?"She stuttered out, looking just as scared as I am
"it's back,I can see it,oh god I can see it"I whispered out in terror, beginning to tear up out of fear
"What's back?Raven what's going on?Are you okay?!"Ally yelled at me
I couldn't respond to her,I was to busy staring at the thing farther in the back of my room, drowning out her voice screaming at me to say something.but I couldn't.The candles only could lit up so much,so the only thing seen could be were us,and the board, everything else was pitch black, yet I could still make out the face staring back at me.It was white, with a large smile on it's face with no teeth, nothing less than terrifying, and the eyes,oh god the eyes, they were white with just small black dots in the middle, piercing into me as if it knew I was scared.Slowly Ally turned around to see what had made me so afraid.A high pitched scream and fast shuffling sound were the last thing I heard before The rest of the world seemed to turn black for me.
