Barren, that was a good way to describe the ashy, burnt village that stood before him. The buildings had, for the most part, toppled over and covered the roads in glass and debris making it very hard to get around the place, especially if you happen to be on horseback.

He dug his foot into the dirt beneath him before giving it a firm kick and looking to his companion. "Jay, why did you bring me here?" he questioned, shoving his cold hands into the pockets of his of his warm, purple tunic.

"Well Stephen, I thought you'd like to give your input on what should be built here" the winged half-human said gently gliding from his place in the sky to stand beside his king.

The king frowned at his paladin's response, his gaze turning darker in an attempt to get the real reason out of Jay.

The blond man put up his his hands in defence with a quick roll of his eyes. "Fine, fine, fine" he sighed, "I think we found that magical energy you were looking for. The guards and I were unable to find the source of it but we figured with your 'abilities' it'd be a piece of cake"

Letting a soft hum leave his slightly chapped lips, the king took a slow step forward in preparation, raising his staff above the ground. He let down the hoodie of his tunic, exposing his purple mohawk to the the soft breeze around them.

Jay took a step back watching his highness' eyes glow a bright purple as the ruler mumbled out a spell that the winged man assumed was Latin.

As the spell came to it's end a bright beam of purple light emitted from the king's body covering everything as far as Jay's closed eyes could see.

POP!

A smirk crept it's way onto the dry lips of the necromancer king.

"Is that the-"

"Yep" the purple-haired male interrupted with a smile. The two made their way towards the source of the loud popping sound.

"Mum, wha-what's going on?!" a boy clad purely in white yelled as a white bubble began encasing him.

"Don't worry honey, maybe there's a spell in my boo-"

An elven fire arrow crashed through the window startling the two inside, "No mum, you have to leave!" Hosuh yelled with worry laced deep into his voice.

"What are you? Crazy!? I'm not abandoning my only child!"

The boy in watched in horror as the fire began spreading across the small cottage he and his mother had once inhabited. "Ye-yes, I know but I have the goddess' blessing, you don't!" If you don't leave now you'll end up dead for sure!" As if the attackers were listening in on the conversation a loud explosion was heard not to far away, emphasising the danger his mother was in.

"But Hosuh-" tears began to fall down the middle-aged woman's face as she let go of the white bubble her son had been trapped in.

Hosuh reached his hand out to wipe the tears off his mother's face, but was stopped by the barrier the bubble had made between them. "Please don't cry" he pried as tears began streaming down his face as well.

"How can I not?" The woman questioned looking deeply into her son's delicate light blue orbs.

Another fire arrow broke through their window, landing far too close to Hosuh's mother for comfort. "...I have to go" she said in barely a whisper.

"Yeah" Hosuh whispered back, though the echo of the bubble he was in made him sound a little louder.

The older woman took off the blue amulet that was wrapped around her neck and whispered out a spell that caused the amulet to land around the boy's neck, pulling slightly at his shoulder-length, grey hair. "Please stay here for as long as long as you can and don't take off my amulet, okay baby?"

Hosuh nodded, watching as his mother teleported away and the place he had once called his home came crashing down.

"So, you're the one with the crazy magical energy" Stephen said, though it sounded more like a question as he was not impressed by what stood before him.

The boy dressed in white scurried backwards in fear, feeling the light grey hairs on his arms and his back stand all the way up.

"Well, I can't say I'm completely surprised, I know how your goddess likes to keep a low profile" Stephen spoke once again once the healer refused to open his mouth.

Hosuh's eyes widened. "How do you know of my blessing, unless you..." the healer took a closer look at the man dressed in purple and gasped. "The goddess of death? Why?"

"Well purple is a good colour on me, don't you think" Stephen smirked, yet again, he was used to this kind of reaction.

"Why are you here? What do you want from me?" the small healer boy whimpered, his fear only growing stronger now that he knew what Stephen's 'interests' were.

"What do I want? Do you really plan on staying here?! I don't think that's a good idea" Stephen snickered.

"No, I'm staying here"

A loud and obnoxious laugh burst it's way out of the king's mouth at the latter's attempt at confidence. "What?! You can't be serious! What reason could you possibly have to stay here, in this wasteland?"

Hosuh let out a soft sigh, his gaze falling to a particularly interesting part of his lap. "Before my village was burnt to the ground my mother gave me her amulet" Hosuh took out said amulet, covered by the top this robes, "When it's colour fades so does she. And that means she is still alive, she's coming back for me"

"And how long have you been waiting?" Jay asked. Hosuh was beginning to think the other man was mute.

"F-five days" Hosuh sighed pulling his thighs up to his chest for warmth.

A short silence fell among the three before Stephen offered his hand and said, "That settles it, you're coming with us.
