Katsuki Bakugo couldn't hear anything. Couldn't see anything. He couldn't feel when he brushed past Kirishima. There was just this ringing in his head that wouldn't stop. Everything was white noise. He felt no emotions as he stepped into the elevator. No dings were heard as it climbed the floors. He hadn't even noticed Icy Hot following him. He just had to get to his dorm- he had to before he would allow them to start. The tears.
Entering his dorm room, Katsuki threw off his hero outfit and locked the door before collapsing on his bed. He didn't care if he was in nothing but his boxers, he didn't. He just wanted- no, needed to curl up and sleep, and maybe the nightmare would end. Maybe he'd wake up from this awful dream. Maybe- He closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.
"DEKU!" Bakugo shouts at the greenette from where he was fighting Dabi; letting another large explosion fire off in the villains' face. "TAKE THIS!" The blonde boy chucked his teammate an explosive.
Deku heard Bakugo cry out in pain as he fired off another explosion and did as he was told, pulling the pin out of Bakugo's grenade. The teen was about to chuck it when he suddenly tried to dodge Shigaraki's hand, which had come straight for his face.
"THROW THE FUCKING BOMB, DEKU!" Katsuki yelled at his friend, trying to dodge Dabi's attacks without having to fight back. His arms hurt, and he was sure he'd torn muscles. Bakugo suddenly hears an explosion from not too far away and turns to look. Fuck. Fuck fuck fuck! No!
The scene before Katsuki caused him to stumble for a moment; though luckily Dabi had paused too. In the smoke of the grenade lay two bodies. Two. Bakugo instantly booked it over to Izuku's side, trying not to move the boy as much as possible.
Dabi grabbed Shigaraki's limp body and glared once at Katsuki before climbing into the portal that Kurogiri had opened and disappearing.
"Deku..?" Katsuki's voice was quiet- not that Izuku would have been able to hear it. His ears were ringing way too much.
"K-Kacchan..?" Hearing Izuku's voice didn't make Katsuki any less worried. The smaller boy was covered in cuts and lacerations, and his voice was shaky.
"Deku..!" Katsuki murmured quietly, looking at the cuts on his friend's body. "F-Fuck..." He murmurs under his breath as he realizes just how bad it is.
Izuku felt so weak. He just wanted to fall asleep. Everything around him felt heavy, though at least he could hear now. "Ka-Kacchan... Everything h-hurts..." Why's he crying? Kacchan never cr- Oh... "Kacchan..."
Bakugo looked at the greenette below him, tears falling from his eyes. He didn't want this to happen! It couldn't happen! Deku was too important for it to be over like this. "S-Shitty Deku- Don't talk... You need to save your strength... Pro's will be here soon... They can help..."
"Ka- Kacchan... I-I'm not... You-You need to take it... I want you-" Izuku paused a moment and coughed, blood coming up into his mouth. "I want you t-to... Take One f-for All... T-Take my blood Ka-Kacchan... Please..." The boy's words were slurring together and coming at a slow pace. Katsuki was applying pressure to the wounds to stop the bleeding.
"I-I can't t-take it Deku... Not like this- I- I can't fucking lose you! I refuse to lose you!" Katsuki was clearly panicking. He had tears streaming down his face and blood covering his outfit.
"K-Ka-" Izuku couldn't finish the blondie's name- feeling way too exhausted. "Not g-going to- have to- take it... P-Please..."
Katsuki could feel a huge lump in his throat as he just cried more, but raised one of the smaller boys arms to his face and took a little bit of blood in his mouth- finding the irony taste absolutely disgusting. He didn't want it to end like this- there was still so much the explosive boy had to tell the nerd. "D-Deku..?"
"K-Kac... Chan..?"
"I-I loved you..." The words tumbled from Katsuki's lips without him even worrying about Izuku's reaction. A soft, sad smile appeared on Izuku's face.
"...you... Too... Kacchan..." The words were broken up, but Katsuki knew what he'd said. Before any other words were shared, the greenette fell limp, his face paling and his breathing stopped. Bakugo laid his head on Deku's chest. There were two final heartbeats and the boy's heart beat no more.
"DEKU!"
Katsuki sat up in his bed- shaking madly. He had tears rolling down his face still. He didn't hear the wild knocks at the door; the people calling his name in worry. He stood up and pulled on some sweatpants before balling his fists and hitting his punching bag in the corner of the room.
"This is all your fault! Fucking Katsuki! Lameass! Weakling! You threw the bomb! You couldn't save him! You killed the one person who mattered most! You don't matter! Your feelings dont matter! STOP CRYING YOU MORON! DAMN YOU! SHUT UP!" With each sentence about himself, Katsuki punched the bag- though he stopped when he had no more fight left in him and felt a pair of arms cross his torso.
"Bakugo..." The sad voice of his sensei was in his right ear. "Enough... That's enough..." Katsuki just turned around and hugged his teacher. Neither one normally liked affection- craved it even less- but the blonde teen needed it at the moment. He felt broken. Useless. Like his whole world was crumbling apart and he didn't know what to do.
"H-How'd you get in here..?" It was a whisper- an abnormality for Katsuki Bakugo- who was always so loud.
Aizawa sighed and sat the boy down on the bed, still hugging him tightly. "I know how to pick locks, Bakugo." Was his simple reply as he stared at his student. The boy's knuckles were bleeding and cracked, his body shaking and his voice broken.
"Why..?" Bakugo asked in a defeated voice, "He always r-ran into danger... W-we were told to wait... But civilians... And I threw... And then..." He couldn't piece his thoughts together. Everything was repeating on loop in his head. He felt weak for letting his sensei. Normally he wouldn't show that he cared- just would let the feeling build up and then explode out at someone. This- this was too much. Too fucking much for his brain to handle and it wouldn't let him block it out. "Fucking dammit! Stop crying..!" He growled to himself.
Aizawa just sighed. He knew how the kid felt- and had been updated on the news just moments before Kaminari had knocked on his door to say Bakugo had locked himself in his room. He knew all too well how losing someone you loved felt- he'd loved Oboro before he died and he could imagine the pain his student felt.
The two sat there in silence for what felt like hours- being around 45 minutes. Eventually, Katsuki fell asleep in Aizawa's arms. The man laid him down on his bed and walked back into the hall. He noticed some of his students had left- the only ones actually remaining now had tearstains running down their cheeks. "Kirishima," Aizawa's tired voice addressed the redhead, who was in the middle of comforting Todoroki- who happened to be quietly staring at his phone in shock. The news had gotten out. "Do you think you're able to stay with Bakugo for a while?" He didn't trust the boy would stay safe.
Kirishima met his teachers gaze. His heart ached like everyone elses- but he gave a brisk nod. He knew how his friend felt about the boy; even though it caused Eijiro great pain to see the blonde teen pining after someone else. "Todoroki, I don't suppose..."
"I'll go in too..." Shoto's voice sounded distant- like he wasn't even there. Neither of them had ever felt this level of pain- not once. They both stood up on shaking legs and walked into Katsuki's dorm. Soft snoring led Kirishima to breathe out a sigh of relief. Good. He was sleeping- for now.
