STARS ARE JUST HISTORY

"Mom, where's the star?"

I stopped and looked at her. She looks upon me before shifting her gaze above the skies. I sighed and took a quick glance at the empty, dark skies. It is almost midnight, the lamp post are dimly lit, the cold breeze sends shivers, and the once full of stars sky just felt so empty with the moon alone.

I felt a lump on my throat; I can't answer this little girl's question.

"When can I see them? They seem so wonderful, from the stories you kept on telling me. You even said that that," she points to the skies, "is full of stars. There are hundreds, even thousands, of stars. But where are they now?"

I just simply smile and bend my knees to level with her. I pat her head lightly. "They are in your imagination. They are in your heart. They will always be a part of you."

She shrugs before pulling me up to continue walking. She wishes to have midnight walks just to see a star, a single star would be enough; but the walk is all I could offer, not the star.Sadly, stars will now only be in our imagination. They are just history, now.
