"Arlert, your time's almost up". A soldier said. "Once your shift is over, you head back to the barracks and get some rest, are we clear?".

Armin nodded his head. "Understood". He said.

The soldier withdrew and Armin once again was left alone with the company of another soldier (Who he rarely talked to anyway). It slightly saddened the boy that he won't be able to see this view in awhile, but he knew that duty must always come above all else.

Tomorrow was going to be pivotal, they would have to try to capture Annie so they can interrogate her and make sure that Eren remains as the responsibility of the Survey Corps.Of course, since they knew that he had the strongest connection with Annie, he would have to be the one to manipulate her into following him (alongside Mikasa and Eren).

He felt guilty about having to manipulate her, but he knew that it must be done. Besides, she wasn't any better, she was lying straight to his face this entire time and she hid the fact that she was the Versatile Titan, she was responsible for everyone who died on that day.

Still, a part of Armin refused to believe that Annie did all of that because she wanted to. He knew her since his early days in the training regiment, she was cold and stoic but she was nice. The day when she asked him the question on wither or not he would be willing to die after the hell that was Trost, he was able to see the concern that was on her face.

He can't believe that Annie must've done all of this because she was "evil", then if she was; why did she spare him in particular? When he thought about it more, Annie must've known that sparing him would've surely led to her downfall, but she still couldn't bring herself to kill him.But then again, she did kill many soldiers, even Levi's squad.

Damn it, all of this was mentally exhausting.

Who knew that the person who you grew close to would turn out to be the one responsible for the massacre at the 57th Expedition?

Armin did hope that it was all just a bad, freakish nightmare, and he'd wake up sweating profusely as the cold room sent shivers down his spine.

But that was just wishful thinking, and Armin lived long enough to know that reality was ruthless and harsh.

"Hey, wake up kid!". The soldier nudged the Arlert boy and he pointed at the vast landscape. "Someone's coming! I can see 'em carrying a torch from up ahead!".

Armin followed the finger of the soldier to see where he was pointing at. He saw a small glimmer and he tried squinting his eyes for a better look, then his eyes slightly widened in surprise."You're right". Armin muttered. "But no one got outside the walls, we've made sure that all soldiers were accounted for right?".

The soldier shook his head. "Hell, who knows? We might as well must'a missed count, check your binoculars".

Armin pulled out his binocular and he looked at the light that slowly advanced towards them. Because of the dim light that offered very little exposure, he was able to make out a man riding a white horse quickly, but he couldn't make out the rest of his features.

"It IS someone". Armin said as he hid his binoculars. "We might need to wait and see who it is".Some minutes passed and the horse rider finally reached the gate of the walls. He looked up and he was able to see two individuals standing on the top of the wall.

"Hey! Is this Wall Rose?!". The man shouted from the top of his lungs.

From the distance, Armin tried to study the features of the man who arrived, but he wasn't able to make out most of his features.

"Please! I need to get in! It's urgent!". The man begged.

"Should we let him in?". The soldier asked, Armin pondered about it for a moment.

The man didn't seem like he was presenting a threat, he looked like a normal horse rider after all.

But one thing that bothered Armin now is that how come there was a human outside the walls? If that man was a civilian, then how come would a civilian be outside the walls? He knew for a certain fact that civilians were forbidden from going beyond the walls.

But if the man was outside the walls, then was he a soldier?

That also didn't add up, they made sure that any kind of missions would be suspended till morning, and so far; there were no records of any soldier going beyond the walls for any specific mission.

Then what was that man doing outside of the walls? Something was wrong....

After a period of silence, Armin looked up to his compatriot. "Let him in, I'll meet him myself when he crosses the gate". Armin said.

The soldier remained silent for a moment, but he complied with Armin's request. He shouted an order to the soldiers who were within the walls to open the gates for the mysterious new comer, and Armin descended from the top of the wall to meet that man.

He received confused looks from the soldiers as he walked towards the opening gate with a slight feeling of uneasiness, all of that uneasiness stemmed from the question that kept nagging his mind: How come there was a man venturing outside of the walls?

He needed answers, and he will get those answers.
