From here on out, the story will be told in the third person

JASON

"You know, not everything is about war Jason"

"It's alpha Jason to you Stephen"

"...But I'm your beta now"

"Your point?" It was a long journey to Greyhound pack and Alpha Jason was close to throwing Stephen out of the car, if not for the friendship he had built with his father, one of his true and trusted friends. Unfortunately, now he had no one else to confide in and he was not about to let Stephen into his personal life. The boy didn't even live to see the ecliptic war between the supernatural beings before the truce. If Alpha Jason had his way, he would be at his pack, training as always and doing things that did not involve match-making. Sadly, he's been putting it off for years, Alfred, Stephen's father, was always in charge of the pairing but lately, he had felt how worried his followers were that he hadn't found his mate yet, even though he could still pass for 25 and wasn't really bothered. He had royal blood and ruling a warrior pack on his own has never been a bother to him.

"My point is you can confide in me, trust me"

"How old are you?"

"Em, eighteen"

"That means from where I'm standing, you're still a pup. The only reason I'm on this journey is so you won't screw up", and maybe, I can find my mate and my pack can relax but he wasn't going to voice that out loud.

"Yeah, but..." Immediately, Stephen stopped talking and Jason could notice a shift in the air. They could sense something was wrong, even before his men did.

"Alpha Jason..."

"Stop the car", he commanded and soon was jumping out, sensing death in the air. Normally, that came with the smell of rogues but this was different; it was fouler and choking if one did not control their olfactory sense properly. His men had already formed a shield around him, even though he didn't need protecting. "Everyone, stay on alert". No sound was made as the wind cautiously blew, batting the leaves in the north direction as Jason channels his wolf to see past the trees. He heard them before seeing them as a large wolf jumped out of a clearing and landed in front of them. His men got into an offensive stance as they watched the wolf trying to circle them. Soon enough, more of them appeared, one eye red and the other black as they lashed at Jason's people. His members had all stepped out, each one ready to take on these wolves that would dare challenge Moonlit pack.

"These aren't rogues", he whispered to himself, sensing a different sort of smell emitting from them. Before he could try to decipher the situation, the wolves charged at them and his men retaliated. Jason found himself in a bloody mess as he channelled his wolf's powers, slashing the wolves by their necks and digging in to break them. These wolves were strong as they took on his men, injuring a good number of them. A few of the Moonlit members switched to full werewolves, hoping to tear them down. Jason could spot Stephen still standing and holding his own; maybe he's not as weak as he appears after all. Needing this to be over, he quickly transformed to his werewolf, a huge one with dark fur and a silver line, with golden eyes showing he was of royal blood. He fought his way through but realized that these wolves seemed to be following a formation like someone was giving them instruction. As Jason's wolf bit into one of them, he was unaware of another that was about to gang upon him.

"Jason, look out!" But it was too late as the wolf jumped, his mouth open and ready to bite Jason's head off. Before he can react, a force moves quickly and kicks the wolf hard, throwing it off balance as it flies and hits a tree, knocking itself out. Jason's wolf began to stir in anticipation as he looked at the figure that had dropped to the ground. Her dark brown hair cascading down her back as she stood tall, dressed in an armoury cloak for better movement. Jason didn't know who she was but his wolf seemed to have a very good idea.

"Alpha Jason, are you okay?" Stephen bellows as he runs to him, kneeling to check for wounds but Jason brushes him off, still staring at the back of the girl, who was yet to acknowledge him.

"All Moonlit pack members in wolf form, you need to change back. You are in more danger if you fight them in wolf form. Miriam!"

"I'm here". Jason spots another girl in jet black hair, swinging from a tree.

"Let's do this fast and delicately. These wolves are in pain"

"Right". In pain? What was she talking about? They attacked them. But Jason couldn't ask those questions and changed back, Stephen quickly handing him a pair of trousers. He watched as the mysterious girl swung a silver sword slashing at the wolf creatures; sometimes she would dig her hand into their chest, ripping out their hearts. Her associate, Miriam, was also holding her own as she chanted words to cause them to slumber. The girl dug her sword into the last one before ripping it off.

"Miriam..." Without saying anymore, the Miriam girl used a spell to bring all the bodies of the wolf close and piled them up. The girl finally turned towards his direction and Jason met with her pale grey eyes on him. She knew who he was and what they were. He could feel her wolf reaching out to his, like a bond. Before he could think, he was moving closer to her, ignoring his pack members that were healing from their injuries.

"Are you okay?" he asks

"I am. You almost died"

"I didn't"

"But you almost did." Jason raised one of his eyebrows, wondering if she knew who he is and if she'll still be talking this way if she knew.

"Sara, we're ready".

"Okay", she answers but her eyes are still on Jason. A second later, she turns away and Jason watches as she and Miriam stand together in front of the bodies, their arms placed in a prayer form with their heads bowed.

"Oh, goddess of the earth, thou will be done

Out of the sand, the souls were formed; out of death, the souls shall return; Cleanse the darkness enraptured in their hearts; Deliver their minds from evil, So that their soul may return to you..."

"Proiectus est odium pace et invenietis animabus vestris in gremium terrae deam: Amen"

"Amen", Sara repeated and immediately, the bodies were enraptured in fire and burned to crisp, the ashes floating away into the air. Alpha Jason had not heard the ancient prayers said in a very long time. There, he knew that these women were not from the Greyhound pack. There was a ten-second silence before the Miriam girl busted.

"Are you crazy? Throw yourself into danger one more time..."

"It's fine. You were here"

"And if I wasn't?"

"But you were"

"You are just..ugh!"

"Why are you getting upset?"

"Because you're self-destructive. You're like a walking bomb. How your mate will survive, I have no idea!" Oh, he will, Jason thought as he watched them both bicker.

"Alpha Jason", Stephen calls causing both girls to stop and look at him. "The men from Greyhound packs are here. Their pack warrior Philip is here"

"Took them long enough", Sara snorts as she strode towards them. "Apologies for the rudeness. I'm Sara, Alpha Laden's niece and this is Miriam"

"Nice to meet you, Alpha Jason"

"A pleasure. Witches don't usually stay here"

"Oh, I'm from..."

"She's visiting", Sara cut her off and he tilted his head, wondering how long she was going to ignore the mate pull. Not like he was complaining. He had never needed a mate for anything.

"Alright, now that formalities are done. Do you mind explaining what those things are and why they attacked us", Jason asked, his voice echoing in an Alpha tone, although he couldn't help himself but admire his mate, with her scars and the blood splattered on her. For him, she would fit well into the Moonlit pack.
