I was late.

Ramming against the accelerator, I speedened my car in order to atleast make it till the cake cutting. It was Isco's birthday and I was late by almost forty minutes. But in my defense, my boss had extended my shift by an hour even after I told him beforehand that I had an important event to attend to.

Every now and again, I glanced at my watch whilst keeping a check on the road. I wouldn't say that I was rash driving but I was going a little notch over the speed limit which wasn't the safest thing to do but it couldn't be helped.

After about fifteen minutes, I had finally reached the hotel where the party was held. Slowly coming to a stop, I looked out of the window towards the direction of the huge hotel that was too extravagant for my liking but Isco was a world class player with millions of dollars at his disposal so this small amount didn't make much difference to him.

I straightened out a few strands of troublesome hair and gave one last look at my reflection in the car's mirror before finally getting out of the car. The cool chilly breeze hit me and I shivered. Well, I wasn't expecting that.

It was an April night and the weird weather was making me slightly perturbed because I was more of a summer person than a winter. Letting out a sigh, I smoothened the creases on my purple dress and started heading towards the hotel with a small gift in hand.

Isco and I didn't go a long way back. We weren't childhood friends or even sweethearts but we were close. I met him two years ago when he had just moved to Madrid to play for Real Madrid and I had been chosen to come here about the same time as an editor for a fashion magazine. We were worlds apart with nothing in common except the fact that we were alien to this new town.

We bumped into each other at a cafeteria and hit it off right away. We went touring around the city together as well. Over the years, he had introduced me to his teammates in Real Madrid and I wouldn't say that we were buddies but whenever I was around them, we got off tremendously well. But even now, Isco considered me one of his best friends but never anything more than that. With the way we acted with each other, people mistook us for a couple but he would always laugh it off never realising how much of a huge crush I had on him since the day we met. But I didn't want to let that get in the way of our friendship.

Once I reached the entrance of the hotel, I stood outside for a few seconds. I was slightly nervous about how I would be perceived in a crowd full of people of an entirely different league. The guard at the near the entrance looked at me funny probably wondering why the hell was I taking so much time but nonetheless gave a smile which I nervously returned.

Just as I was about to finally enter, I heard a screeching noise of someone's car and followed after was a shattering of glass. Instinctively, I turned back and to my horror realised that my car had been hit.

Wide eyed and completely taken aback, I rushed back to my car and so did couple of people in the driveaway who had witnessed the accident. From the car that had hit mine, out came a blonde haired guy with disheveled hair which was probably from the accident.

But I cared little for him. The idiot had the nerve to hit my baby.

He looked a little shaken from the incident and looked around for a bit before finally spotting me. I probably had the worst reaction on my face so it wasn't that hard to guess that my car had been the victim.

As the guy started nearing, I had finally started making out his features and I swore I had seen him before but I couldn't exactly point out where.

"I'm so sorry!" He apologised, a worried expression playing on his face. "I'll pay the expenses and everything."

Of course, you will.

Coming back into my senses, I rubbed my fingers against my forehead. "Were you drunk?!" I angrily yelled at him. He looked slightly taken aback with my reaction but recovered quickly.

"N-No." He finally got out a reply. "I was just-" Letting out a sigh, he continued. "Late to something."

Glaring at him for a few more seconds, I shook my head. Well, it could have been worse and moreover I was guilty of driving rather rough too.

"It's okay." He grinned at me and I couldn't help but roll my eyes. "But you're paying, alright."

He nodded his head and smiled at me. At this point, my anger had finally come down and I was okay enough to return the smile.

"Toni." He surprised me with letting his hand out.

We were in the middle of a wreckage, might I add.

He chuckled and I felt my cheeks heating up. Did I just say that aloud?

"Aya." I quickly took his hand and lightly shook them. I was better than this but the whole thing had just turned the night around.

Toni was just about to say something when both our phones lit up at the same time. We both reached out for our phones and looked down at our respective messages.

ISCO DISCO: WHERE DA FUCK ARE YOU??!!!! (Kudos if you got the name)

That's when I suddenly remembered the exact reason I was outside. "Oh. Shit." I cursed and looked at Toni whose expression replicated mine.

"I need to go." We both said in unison and I let out a little laugh.

"A friend's birthday." I stated and he bit his lips in thought.

"Isco?" He finally asked and I looked up at him, slowly nodding.

That's when it hit me.

Toni Kroos.

The freaking Toni Kroos.

Oh. My. God.

"Y-yes." It was now my turn to get nervous. "You are the Toni Kroos." I held my hand against my mouth and he laughed at my reaction.

"Nice to meet you again." He mocked me and even though I knew I was being made fun of,  I couldn't help but stare at him in disbelief.

"Shall we head to the party then?" He said, clicking his finger in front of my face and eventually snapping me out of the whole thing. "Or do you want us to get our asses whooped?"

It was going to be a long fucking night.

A few minutes ago I was late. Now I'm late, doomed and left with a car with no headlights.
