If you have been living underneath a rock for the last few months, you may not know that we are currently going through a global pandemic. Unfortunately, because of that, so much that a lot of people have been looking forward to has been canceled in efforts to streamline social distancing so that things can get back to normal. If you're like me, summer is not the time for s'mores, camping, summer love, endless nights, no school, etc. No, my dears. It's time for Big Brother! However, knowing the state that we are currently in internationally, this season of Big Brother has officially been put to a halt, which absolutely sucks because it is literally the only thing I watch on TV and care about during the summertime.
I know, I know I'm being dramatic, but for the one thing that keeps you sane when, especially, not having friends is a TV show that has been postponed to an unclear date is absolutely frustrating. So... to keep myself busy by combining my favorite show with my passion for writing, I have decided to create this choose your own adventure style book that follows your choice of one out of 16 houseguests into the Big Brother House to see if you will win half a million dollars! However, this ain't going to be no easy peasy book hun. If you choose an answer that could be detrimental to your game inside the house, there is a possibility of going home and ending your story, so... CHOOSE WISELY.
Before we get into the game, please read this to understand how a basic week in the house will go and what to expect. If you have seen the show and are a superfan, feel free to skip this part due to you already having knowledge of the game.
A typical week in the Big Brother House consists of five major events in this specific order: The Head of Household Competition, The Nomination Ceremony, The Power of Veto Competition, The Power of Veto Ceremony, and Eviction Night.
Here's how they all work:
At the beginning of a Big Brother week, which primarily tends to be on a Thursday night, all 16 houseguests will compete in the Head of Household Competition (HOH) that provides the winner with safety for the week and the opportunity to nominate two houseguests for eviction. The first and last HOH competitions will allow all players to compete. However, throughout the game, the outgoing HOH will not be eligible to compete due to their previous reign as HOH. After the HOH competition, the HOH will nominate two houseguests for eviction at the Nomination Ceremony. Usually, the HOH will base this decision off of houseguests they feel are threatening to their game or alliance. The nominees will then have a few days to campaign and strategize in order to guarantee safety before the Power of Veto Competition (POV). In the POV Competition, the HOH, two nominees, and three other houseguests selected by random draw will compete in the POV competition. The winner of the competition will have a choice between keeping the nominations the same or vetoing someone off the block at the Power of Veto Ceremony. By choosing to keep the nominations the same, the houseguests who were nominated will remain nominated until Eviction Night where all of the houseguests besides the HOH and two nominees will cast their votes for who they want to evict out of the Big Brother House. By choosing to use the POV on someone, the HOH will then need to replace the vetoed nominee with a houseguest that is not the POV winner or original nominee. Based on how the houseguests vote on Eviction Night, the houseguest with the most votes to be evicted will leave the Big Brother House. The week will start over again on that Thursday night and a new HOH will be crowned.
Here are some other things to be mindful of:
- All of the houseguests are cut off from the outside world completely for three months. (no TV, phones, books, internet, computers, tablets, etc.)
- The houseguests will be recorded 24/7 through many cameras and microphones.
- Big Brother is played for 90 days, or 3 months.
- Big Brother tends to throw twists into the game in order to make it more interesting, difficult, and unrepeatable.
- All of the houseguests are complete strangers from around the United States and do not know one another unless there is a twist for the season.
- There are usually competitions specific to endurance, logic, or sometimes both.
- There are many opportunities to win specific prizes, such as cash and vacations.
- There are many opportunities to earn punishments, such as a ridiculous costume, something to annoy you and your houseguests, or something that may be threatening to your game.
- Every week, the HOH will pick four houseguests to be Have Nots, which means that they take cold showers, eat slop, and have to sleep in an uncomfortable bed for an entire week. This is meant to weaken the players picked for the competitions during the week.
- After the first five houseguests leave, the next nine houseguests will then move into the Jury House where they will decide who in the Final Two should be the winner of Big Brother.
- Diary Room sessions are scheduled times for your chosen houseguest to talk about how their feeling in the game. Alliances, competitions, relationships, fights, ceremonies, strategies, and evictions will all be talked about in the Diary Room. With the being said, all of the information you choose to say in the Diary Room is all confidential to the other houseguests and theirs is confidential to you.
- Romantic relationships inside of the house are called "showmances."
- The last houseguest standing will win a grand prize of $500,000.
- The runner-up will win $50,000.
- America's Favorite Player will win $25,000.
I really hope that you all enjoy this! If so, it is possible the I will create another season of Big Brother in this format for next summer. Please recommend some ideas for me that you have. They can be competition ideas, twist ideas, certain scenarios, etc. I really hope this goes well for your chosen houseguest and you win the grand prize of $500,000! Good luck and remember to expect the unexpected.
