Underneath the slight folds
of the tangled branches
a blinding light of gold
spilled over You and Me
Reminisce the sugary taste of honeysuckle
dripping from parted lips
after a lingering kiss or a chuckle
that bounced off trees
That was You and Me
i know it seems untrue
but that was You and Me
covered in gold and green
Tiny bits of clover
Clung to our hair
as we rolled over
on the green grass
to the otherside of the tree
When we were done having our fun
we would lean against the tree
feeling bark dig into our skin
It didn't bother you
as it had me
maybe because you knew
that you would miss
Our empty saturday afternoons
spent laying in the sun
in the middle of June
With only You and Me
