You Shook Me by Led Zeppelin

Written By: Willie Dixon, J.B. Lenoir

Released On: January 12, 1969

Track 3 on Led Zeppelin (1969)

Lyrics:

You know you shook me
You shook me all night long.
You know you shook me, baby
You shook me all night long.
You shook me so hard baby
Baby, baby, please come home

I have a bird that whistles
And I have birds that sing.
I have a bird that whistles
And I have birds that sing.
I have a baby, won't do nothing oh!
Oh, oh, buy a diamond ring

You know you shook me, baby
You shook me all night long.
I know you really, really, did baby.
I said you shook me, baby.
You shook me all night long.
You shook me so hard, baby
You shook me all night long

Facts:

This is one of the songs off the album that is a cover of an old blues song. Unlike the others, Zeppelin did give credit to the original songwriters when releasing the album. This song is a cover of You Shook Me by Muddy Waters. Despite it being a cover, it's longer than any previous versions of the songs with a 6 minute length (since this version has an instrumental breakdown)

Even though it was a cover of a Muddy Waters song, Zeppelin has been accused of stealing the Jeff Beck's version of this song. Jimmy has denied this and said he didn't hear Beck's version until after Zeppelin's version came out.

The meaning of the lyrics? All are sexual innuendos of course.
