(A/n I know that a couple of chapters ago I gave Nina a face claim but honestly, just imagine her however you want." I'm not certain I will continue using the face claim when it comes to describing her, etc but if it helps you dope! Anyway enjoy 😉 )
The jet landed back home after the case. The relief of the team was obvious. Everyone wanted to go home and see their families.
Nina bid everyone a good night and quick hugs before rushing off to catch the 9o'clock bus.
Her keys jingle as she unlocks the front door to her aunts house.
Now ,Nina knows that being 24 and still living at home wasn't ideal but with her Aunt still paying off the Mortgage and Nina's other half of her college bursary not to mention all the everyday things that come with caring for two kids, she knew her Aunt couldn't afford to pay for Ethan's medical bills, so she cancelled her lease on her old place in New York and moved back to Quantico with her aunt, got a job and helped as much as she could."Nina, I didn't hear you come in." Aunt Jean says from the kitchen, a glass of wine in hand, looking tired but happy to see her niece nonetheless.
Discarding her go-bag she pulls her Aunt into a tight hug. "I've missed you." She mumbles.
Her Aunt gives her a squeeze.
"I know, Superstar." Nina hadn't heard the childhood nickname in a while.
"The kids are in bed, Ethan's been doing better everyday, the doctor says that they'll be able to stop Chemo in a month." Nina couldn't suppress her smile. She was thrilled her little brother was finally gonna he able to live life like a normal 12 year old.
Her Aunt smiles back at her, "I'm off to bed, I'm opening up the diner tomorrow morning.""Okay." Nina says softly as her Aunt closes her bedroom door.
Nina checks in on Ethan and Hope, giving them both soft kisses on the crown of their heads as the slept soundly. She was so glad they were okay. After everything that had happened she was scared that something could happen to her family. As she sat on her sofa, starting her second glass of wine, her thoughts drifted to Spencer.
She knew he didn't have anyone waiting at home for him. She knew his mom lived far away and that he didn't have a family here. She felt sad suddenly, that no one was with him after everything that had happened to the team.So maybe it was the two glasses of wine ,the fact that she wanted to see Spencer regardless of the time or that she was convincing herself that he would want someone to talk to.
But she got up and practically ran out the door. After a very uncomfortable ride on the metro where she was pretty sure her taser had become imbedded in her hand, she arrived in-front of Spencer's apartment. The slight buzz from the wine was starting to wear off as she realised she'd never been to Spencer's apartment.
What if he thought she was weird for showing up here at Eleven o'clock at night.
What if he was sleeping and she woke him up?
What if he had A GIRLFRIEND and didn't even need her company like she needed his. No, he would have mentioned a girlfriend to her, she thought to herself.
But what if even if he didn't have anyone he still thought she was weird.God, she was stupid. Of course he wouldn't want to see her, he probably wasn't desperate for company like she was and he definitely didn't like her the way she liked him, even if it was slightly less platonic than Nina would wish it to be, she had grown quite attached to Spencer, she loved talking to him and listening to his rants. Because even though Nina had her Aunt and her siblings, she often felt lonely, like she couldn't talk about what happens at work or her fears and dreams with them, they needed her to be strong, even when she wasn't.
Just as she was about to turn back, she saw a light turn on in the second floor apartment, Spencer's apartment.
She watched his silhouette pace and run his hands through his hair.
