To understand our world you must understand the history, even of the people feared for having power. Almost 100 years ago part of the human race evolved it resulted in people with greater endurance and strange powers. They are the Evo. People changed and now a days over 40% of the population has a power of some sort. For a time these powers were a gift and people embraced them. Jobs were easy and the Evo were as accepted as normal people were. Then, a mere 20 years ago, came Neutron, and Neutron changed a great deal.

Neutron was the first that anyone could truly call a super villain. Between a super genius mind and a super strong body, he was a force of nature undaunted by the rules of man. He went where he wanted, took what he wanted, and crushed anyone that tried to stop him. He was a mild looking man, 5"7, he dressed in a pitch black suit that matched his pitch black soul. No one remembers his face anymore but some recall a disturbingly handsome man with a small beard and green eyes. He lived for at least 90 years as the living reason to fear the Evo. It's know the the man was brought down by the hero Jolt. That's the public history.

The private history though... Neutron was the leader of the underground, he could've been mayor for all it mattered. He controlled the cops with massive amounts of money. He controlled most of the heroes with promises of fame. He controlled the villains with promises of freedom. None could oppose him. Fewer still even dared to try. That was the law of the land, the city belonged to him and we just lived here to serve him. Jolt changed all of that.

Jolt the lightning hero was a phenomenon. He got so much attention in his first few weeks that heroes flocked to join him. Without the heroes at his beck and call the police lost their nerve and most backed out of Neutron's deal. Jolt tore down the entire system Neutron had put in place in barely a month and took no time cornering Neutron himself. No one knows what happened next. We know after about a month villains started moving again. We know Neutron emerged against after 2 months. We know Neutron's personal mansion exploded after 3 months. We know that after 4 months of a siege Jolt was seen fighting Neutron in the center of the city and at the end of that brawl Neutron died at Jolts hands.

Even with everything Jolt did once Neutron was gone people showed their true colors. Panic spread like wild fire and before people could say oppression Evos were separated from the powerless. Evos had their own section of the city. It was heavily fortified and not even half the size of the normal city. Evos wore special bracelets that kept them from using their powers in excess. Life became stable though. But things began to look up when Jolt founded the Hero association. The Hero Association was the dream of many. Evos looking to do good as well as talented humans all came together under Jolts ideals.

30 years later and the peace is ongoing. Jolt is still the leader of the Hero Association now and he has a kid, Jenn. A genius in school and an amazing leader to be. Her life isn't as glamorous and she works hard. Being the child of Jolt was a stressful mess.

        But this isn't her story.

    It isn't Jolt's story

It's Mine.

My name is Wailin (Way-Lin) "Beats," Jones. My story doesn't start in glory but it gets there. For now, I'm a 17 year old Evo with a bit of a rare power. I produce sound waves or "beats" from parts on my body. I can mimic any sound I've heard within 30 minutes. My beats range from gentle enough to clean an egg to strong enough to hold up an apartment complex. Oh and i can use my beats to propel myself through the air, basically flying. I'm aiming to pick up the hero course in school this year. If i make it there then i can be a fully licenced and authorized hero in no time. That entails one very difficult task, one so monumentally difficult it eludes me to this moment. Catching the bus on time and getting to school early enough to actually sign up for the actual test!

Anyone can sign up for the test and take it,but only 20 could try out a day. Worse still they were running out of seats for this years actual program. Passing the test meant you got out of the bracelets and into specialized costumes. Unfortunately every young Evo with a heart wanted to take up the mantle of hero. Some even tried breaking rules to get their name on the sign up sheet. I would never break a rule in an attempt to be the person enforcing them. That being said I was flying after the bus after i overslept.

I was just under the speed limit but i was gaining on the bus,I'd never even tried using this much power but i wasn't ready to miss sign up again. I wasn't even half way to the limit i could use so I pushed it a bit. I caught onto the back of the bus and chilled out holding onto the back door. It was always good to stay under with the power you used. Stay the green they say, it was in reference to the gauge on the bracelet, Green was good meaning low or no power usage, Yellow was a warning meaning you were using a bit too much, and Red meant you were way over and that's when the heroes were called on you. I've never been red because of the range of my power. I wasn't sure of my limit and as i held onto the back of the bus i had to wonder, why could i go so far when some people could barely use their power and went red. I saw an Evo merely change the color of his skin to green and he went red and here i was keeping pace with a bus with barely half a green bar. It was something beyond me for now. More importantly I was going to be on time today, and my name was going on that list.

The bus stopped and I could see the school building looming overhead. I hopped off the back and quickly mingled with the crowd heading in. I made a rush for the sign up outside the cafeteria and smiled. We'd just gotten here and the list was halfway full. I signed my name and took a picture with my old phone to commemorate the occasion. I'd be the greatest hero since Jolt soon enough so i wanted to remember these little moments. I sat back on a wall grinning before heading to first period. 17 years old, athletic, handsome, beautiful milk chocolate complexion, amazing caramel eyes, and a golden ticket to be the next greatest hero.

My day went quick, my excitement rose higher and higher as I waited for my announcement. It came during lunch, the loud speaker blared loudly with the voice of our assistant principal "Wailin Jones to the auditorium! I repeat Wailin Jones to the auditorium! Its time for your hero program audition." It called before falling silent.

I jumped and ran out of my seat to the gym. I had been waiting for years for my chance. I turned the corner at full speed and crashed into someone. A few papers went flying and i landed flat on my butt. The person i had managed to bump into at full force was still standing as she went to pick up her papers. I had to stop and stare at the person before me.

She was more beautiful than any sunset and shined twice as bright. She had pitch black hair that flowed down the sides of her head like a waterfall in the arctic. Her eyes were like pools of caramel. She had a beauty mark on the right side of her face above her lip. She was dressed like a miniature teacher, black slacks that fit her almost too well, and a light purple blouse. She looked to be around my age if not a bit older. It took me a moment to blink before I moved helping her gather her papers

"I'm sorry...in a rush my hero exam is starting soon." I explained as I stood. She stood as well and smiled putting the sun to shame.

"I heard! You must be Wailin, well i wont take too much of your time. I'm Jenn, if you pass your exam I'll be happy to see you again." She said happily handing me a small pin before she walked away. I stared abit too much as she headed down the hall.

I looked at the pin and blinked "A bolt pin?" I muttered and looked back down the now empty hall. Did i just meet the one and only Bolt? The daughter of Jolt? I could have passed out if my mind hadn't flown back to the knowledge that I had an exam to get to.
