(February 17th 2006)

In Mary's home for troubled kids a doctor and his wife made his way into the reception office to speak with the head of the facility. The couple had been waiting outside for about twenty minutes already. The doors opened to reveal Margaret White the head of the facility. The woman was talking with another woman who wanted to adopt a child, the doctor presumed.

Margaret: I do hope that you get everything you are looking for.

Woman: Thank you. Mrs. White

The woman left silently greeting the couple. Margaret then turned her attention to the doctor and wife.

Margaret: Mr. and Mrs. Caddel a pleasure to see you both again. I take it we've come to a decision?

Nicholas: We have. We'll take the three of them.

Margaret: Are you sure? We've plenty of other childr-

Lily: We know what we want.

Margaret: All right then follow me to the children.

The three adults walked upstairs to a different room where three children were playing.

Margaret: Cassandra, William, Ian, today is the day. You finally get a home.

Lily: Welcome to the family, kids.

Months had passed after becoming members of the Caddel family. Lily and Nicholas had children of their own a son named Jack that the siblings absolutely adored, a daughter named Elaine that Athena didn't really like but tolerated and Of course little Charlie who everyone loved. Today Nicholas was taking both Liam and Athena to work with him. A child/father day at work. At least that's what he told them, the truth is that they were the work. The project was them. You see Doctor Caddel was a scientist that worked for the government. Things were becoming strange as of late. An attack in an old laboratory, some of the patients had become feral and the CDC was afraid that it would only get worse in a few years.

Athena: Do we get to wear lab coats too?

Nicholas: Of course.

Nicholas held the children hands as he opened a door to a lab. The kids looked around in awe not noticing the other scientist in the room.

Nicholas: Doctor Ryke

Ryke: Are the test subjects ready?

Nicholas: Kids. Why don't you both each lay down.

The kids looked at one another confused.

Liam: Why?

Nicholas: Well apart of your jobs today is testing the lights. You see we need them to ensure that we can see everything clearly.

Athena: Can't we just look up?

Ryke: What doctor Caddel means is that sometimes to help the helpless you must be willing to help. So go lay down and you'll both get a big batch of ice cream.

The children did as told as their "father" tightened their wrist on the arm chairs. The kids looked at him more confused but didn't question it.

Athena: Will it hurt?

Nicholas: You won't feel anything.

And they didn't. Ryke had given them a strong anesthesia to knock them out cold allowing him to do as he pleased with the kids. Ryke was looking over Athena's x ray pictures of her head noticing a vast change since the last time they met.

Ryke: They are making progress. These experiments are working on both of them. Which is more than I can say for the last one. We need to push a little more. Doctor Crawford said Ruby has even began to show signs of heightened memory.
