"(l/n)-kun! teach me how to receive!" i turn my head to look at the small middle blocker who is now looking at me with sparkling eyes. i wipe my sweat with the back of my hand before sighing quietly, smiling a little bit. "sure, but not today though."

the sparkle in his eyes immediately vanished. "why?" i scratch my neck, averting my eyes. "well, i have something else to do." hinata smile, nodding his head. "okay then!"

after that, he is running towards kageyama while shouting 'kageyama-kun! toss to me!' while jumping cheerfully like how he always does only to receive 'shut up, hinata boke!'. i sigh again before pouting my lips, kicking at the wooden floor lightly. "tsk, damn it!"

"hey (m/n), why do you look kinda angry?" the familiar voice made me immediately stop mumbling. "oh, sugawara-san! u-uh... it's nothing!"

sugawara tilts his head a little bit, he folds both his hands to his chest before asking me again. "really? you keep mumbling after hinata talks to you. are you guys fighting? you better no―"

"―no, we're not fighting, sugawara-san. don't worry about it." i quickly cut his words before he starts to nag like a mom he is. sugawara sigh before patting my arm gently. "you know you can tell me, right? so, what's up?"

i sigh exasperatedly before looking at the red-headed boy who is now getting yelled at by kageyama. "it's just... my mom wants me to study hard since the exam is right around the corner. so she wants me to be home immediately after practice. no extra minute or else." i pout a little bit before looking at the floor again.

"so does that mean you have to be home now?" sugawara asks and i nod my head lazily. "yeah, see you tomorrow then, sugawara-san." i immediately run towards the gym door, not bothering to change my volleyball shirt.

"there you are! why are you late? aren't your volleyball practice should end 20 minutes ago?" i take my shoes off before arranging them into the shoe shelf back. "i'm sorry mom, this will not happen again tomorrow." i quietly apologized to her before walking towards the stairs. "why are you still in your volleyball shirt? you should've changed it at school! you'll catch a cold! i don't want you to be sick, your examination is around the corner, you know that right?" i sigh while rolling my eyes before looking back at my mom.
