Nishinoya Yuu's POV
"Kaa-chan, I'm going to Octavia-san's house!" I run out of my room with my mobile phone in hand and straight to the front door after wearing a pair of outdoor slippers. It was a good thing I admitted to my mum before about my huge crush towards Octavia which she happily supported.
"Eh? This late at night?" I heard Kaa-chan said questioningly when I unlocked the front door. "Okay, be careful on your way there! And tell her I said Hi!" But I wasn't able to give her a response as I hurry out of the door, running down the quiet street accompanied by the moon and stars in the sky.
I check my phone again, opening up the conversation to see the message I sent to Octavia a few moments ago was only delivered, and she hasn't seen it yet, her active status was still on, but she didn't even send a short reply to make sure everything was okay.
It took me five and a half minutes to reach Octavia-san's neighborhood and finally her house. The lights were still on so at least I know she's awake. I went straight to the front door and nervously knock on the door a few times and wait for her to respond. I could definitely hear approaching footsteps and I expected Octavia to be on the other side, but the voice I heard... Didn't belong to her which surprised me and the door opens up, revealing a familiar light grey-haired third year causing my eyes to widen. No way...
"Suga-san?" I said in puzzlement while Suga-san was taken aback to see me.
"Nishinoya, what are you doing here?"
I became speechless and I couldn't comprehend what was going on. It was Suga-san all along? Yes, I do remember clearly before he ran off he said he had somewhere important to be, and that place... Was here?
Many questions begin to infiltrate my mind and I don't know what to say to Suga-san anymore. Urging me to retrace my steps and just leave, when suddenly I heard running footsteps. "Nishinoya!" And saw Octavia-san with her phone in hand, eyebrows furrowed as she approached to where Suga-san and I stand.
"Nishinoya," Octavia-san let out a few breaths before speaking. "I'm sorry, I wasn't able to send you a reply, I was about to, but I just saw not long and read your message, and it seems like I was too late."
And it was then, all I could do was give her a closed-eyed smile.
"It's alright, Octavia-san." Were the string of words that instantly came out of my mouth. "I'm sorry for coming here unexpectedly." And I couldn't help but feel like I have lost, it was very unsettling.
"Ne, Noya." Octavia then calls me by my usual nickname and it made me realize, it was a first for me to actually hear her say that, knowing she only does so through our chat occasionally. "I know there's a lot that needs to be explained and you deserve to know." Octavia-san then faced Suga-san, giving him a nod and a small smile.
"Alright." Earning a short sigh from Suga-san and a gentle smile form across his face as he looks at me. "I'll be the one to explain."
[Time Skip]
"Okay, okay. I think I get it, yeah." I sat crisscrossed against the couch and think hard about Suga-san's explanation and at the same time I heard Octavia's stifled laugh in seeing the visible confusion and embarrassment written on my face. "So, Suga-san and Octavia are... Actually childhood friends?"
"Yes, Nishinoya, that's the truth," Octavia-san confirmed causing Suga-san to chuckle lightly and I couldn't help but tussle my hair with my mouth wide open in shock. GAH!
"Why didn't you tell us you're close friends with Octavia, Suga-san!" I questioned to which Suga-san sheepishly scratch his right cheek with his index finger. "Honestly, I thought there wasn't a need to but I guess there's no use in hiding it."
"Anyhow, let's call it a night shall we." Suga-san stood up. "We still have morning practice and classes tomorrow, Octavia also needs to rest, it's passed her usual bedtime." I then nod my head in agreement and stand up as well.
"Then I'll see the both of you off." Octavia-san did the same and the three of us head to the front door. "It's really dark out, so please take care and I'll be seeing you two tomorrow, Nishinoya, Koucchan."
"See you tomorrow, Octavia-san. I'm very sorry for the misunderstanding, Suga-san too." I scratch the back of my head slightly abash.
"No worries, Nishinoya. It happens so it's fine." Suga-san gently smiles before proceeding to turn the metal doorknob and pull the door open. "We're heading out, Octavia. Good night." Suga-san shortly waves at Octavia-san and saunter out of the house.
"Good night, Octavia-san! Sleep well." I utter earning a closed-eyed smile from her before I walk out and close the door behind me then run towards Suga-san who is waiting for me. The two of us begin walking down the street of the quiet neighborhood with the air cool as ice every step I take and it was then, a thought suddenly came to me, however, I was having second thoughts to bring it up. But I want to know...
"Suga-san." I muster up the courage to speak and fully gain his attention. If I don't question him now, I know I won't get another chance.
"There's something I would like to ask."
Sugawara Koushi's POV
I arrived at my home and immediately went to my room feeling a bit exhausted. I lay down with my back against the mattress and stare at the white ceiling before covering my eyes with my left arm, and I start to think back to the conversation I had with Nishinoya along the way.
"Suga-san, ano, do you... like Octavia?" His words kept on swirling inside my head.
"It's not like that---" And instantly my response replayed like a broken record. "She's like a little sister to me."
"A little sister." I purse my lip as the thought begins to eat me out alive. Liar.
I am aware. I am aware that I was lying to myself, but I couldn't help but hide how I truly feel for her because, because she loves someone else, and I knew that person is not me, also.
I knew the person she admires loves her back.
