"Lyra. Michael's waiting in the car for you." Marce smiled as I walked down the stairs.

"Already?"

It would be an understatement to say I was awake all night. I have no idea why I thought it would be a good idea to go with Michael. Who knows what the fuck he's doing or where we're even going. And why it was so urgent...

"Lyra." Marce spoke again as I was getting in my shoes. "Be careful. Okay?"

I looked at her with unease, her face serious as she stood by the door.

"But I thought you said-"

"I know what I said. I also know what Michael does outside of the house and it's not something that would be safe to get caught up in." She wiped her hands down her apron as she looked from me to the door. "And I'm not sure why Michael gave in to you going with him."

"I don't either." I sighed slightly before standing up and giving her the best smile I could muster. I resisted the urge to run back up the stairs and lock myself in my room. "But I don't know how I got into this mess and I'm hoping if I find out about what Michael does-then maybe I could get out of it..." I trailed off. It does sound too good to be real now I say it out loud.

"I understand what you have to do just please be careful." She gave me a small smile before she opened the front door for me, the rays of sun reflecting against the tiled floor.

With my head held high I walked out of the door, Michael's frame visible in his car at the bottom of the stairs.

"Oh and Lyra..." I turned back round, her face solemn. "Trust Michael...No one else."

I felt sick instantly as I got into the passenger side of Michael's car. He didn't say anything (which was rather unusual) as he pulled away from his house and sped back down the mountain.

"Michael where are we going?" I questioned, determined to get an answer out of him. If he thought I  was just going be a good little girl and obey his every command like other women apparently did he had another thing coming.

"Lyra, what the fuck did I tell you yesterday? I believe I told you to NOT ask any questions, I will turn straight back around and lock you in your bedroom! It's getting boring me after to keep telling you and having the same conversation."

"I will find out Michael, I will learn who you really are...no one can keep secrets forever." I mumbled the last part, turning my head to look out the window, still nothing to be seen but trees.

"You should call your son." He stayed rather bluntly, my neck snapping back in his direction, my eyebrows furrowing.

"W-what?"

"I said call your son! Don't make me take it back." He warned gritting his teeth and tapping his fingers on the steering wheel.

My heart began to race at the thought of hearing Alex's little innocent voice. I had tried not to think about him too much because I know I wouldn't be able to cope, but now the thought of being with him...

"Here." Michael passed me yet another phone (he seemed to have an endless supply). "Make it quick." He spoke, his eyes still on the road.

Without another thought I dialled Jayden's number, silently praying in my head he would pick up and that Alex was safe.

"Hello?"

"Jayden! It's me."

"Fuck Lyra! Girl do you know what's happening yet? You're still all over the news..."

"I don't know Jayden." I began to choke up, his small hushing coming through the phone. "Can I speak to Alex?"

"Of course, let me just get him he's playing with his toys. I brought him some new ones if that's alright because his are still at your place."
