I woke up in my bed. Two figures were standing over me, but I couldn't quite make them out.
" Mayz, are you awake," said a female, I didn't know who.
I didn't move or speak.
What the hell happened, I thought.
Ding DongThe doorbell went off. The two figures looked at each other, then the bigger one went downstairs to answer the door.
"Mayz," the voice spoke again, it sounded worried.
Then it hit me, everything that happened. My whole life was a lie. Everything I thought was fake. I fainted in front of my REAL mother.
"Mayz," it was a different voice this time. Not my mothers, it was Jases.
What is he doing here?I opened my eyes again and sat up. I looked around the room. Their was three people, my mother and father and Jase. They were all looking at me, and I didn't like it.
"What," I snapped. Everybody just kinda stepped back, except Jase. He smirked and stepped forward. He sat on the edge of my bed.
" We're going out kitten," he stated," get up and get dressed." I glared at him, but did what he said.
"Hold up, wait," my mother said,"You can't just come in here and boss her around. She fainted last night, what if something was wrong?"
I laughed, "I think I'm going to go, You've never been there for me before, so don't pretend to care. Fuck you both, bye!"
I grabbed a pair of skinny jeans and a large hoddie. I got dressed in the bathroom and walk out of the house followed by Jase.
"Intense," he said. I laughed because he had no idea. We walked over to his house and got on his bike, although I thought it was too cold. He helped me on it again, then sped off. I probably should have asked where we were going, but, oh well.
I needed away from those crazys. I closed my eyes and layed my head on Jases back, then fell asleep.
***********************************
I woke up when we were pulling off the road on a dirt road.
"Where are we going," I asked quietly. He chuckled, but didn't answer.
We continued on the little dirt road for maybe twenty minutes. He pulled to the side of the road and stopped, shutting the engine off.
I look at him confused while he helped me off the bike.
" Don't think about it, just come with me."
I laughed," Well I kinda have to."
He nodded and laughed too.
We walked, maybe ten minutes, into a big field, full of flowers. You could see a huge waterfall in the distance, a little stream running through the field, big green trees surrounded the whole field.
It was breath taking. I was speechless.
"Its beautiful, isn't it," Jase asked startling me because I had forgotten he was here. I nodded, still speechless.
We just stood there a while.
"Why did you bring me here," I asked finding my voice again.
He looked at me and smiled, " You've got it bad kitten, I feel bad for you. You don't deserve a bad life. That's why I brought you here. This is where I come if I'm having a bad day, or I need to think, or just get away for awhile."
I looked at him smiling then nodded my head, understanding what he was saying.
******
We stayed there for a few hours, not saying much.
"Alright, I think its time to go,"Jase said standing up. I got up too and nodded.
I sighed, I didn't want to leave I wanted to stay here forever.
I took one last glance and followed Jase back.
We drove back to town in silence, but it was okay, i liked it.
Jase didn't drive me home, instead he brought us to a little dinner next to the library. I have spent a lot of time here, reading while drinking my green tea. They only served it because of me, that's how much I've been here. I smiled as Jase helped me off his bike and we went in.
When we walked in the first thing you notice is the smell, always, it smelled like pancakes and cheese burgers. Then the tacky flower wallpaper. Then the light blue booths. And all of that was why I loved it here, it was different.
"Mayz, honey, I haven't seen you all week," Miss Beth said walking towards us.
Miss Beth was a kind old lady, She owned the place with her husband, who was in the hospital with lung Cancer, stage 4.
She smiled showing off her very white very straight and very real teeth. She hugged me ad turned to Jase.
"I haven't seen you, in what, 6 years? And damn you've grown," she laughed.
Although Miss Beth was old, she could swear. One time all the employees told her to leave because they had a bunch of children coming to eat there on their field trip. It was funny to see her walk around calling them all jack asses the next day.
"Mayz, where the hell gave you been, you've had me worried sick. Damn I thought you would at least called to tell us you were alright," Maggie ranted walking out of the kitchen.
Jase gave me a weird look that i brushed off.
Maggie was in her late twenty's. She had a 6 year old son, David. Who I usually read to when he was here.
Maggie ran over and gave me a hug," Don't you do that to us again, okay?" I nodded and smiled.
" Okay, okay, let's let them sit and eat, Okay Maggie," Miss Beth said waving her arms around.
I laughed as Maggie started to mumble under her breath walking back to the kitchen.
I took Jase to my usual both, which actually had my name painted on it. I received a few hellos from the kitchen as we sat down.
"So, I can assume you come here a lot," Jase asked with a smirk. I nodded and laughed.
This place, these people where my home, my family. They have been the only ones looking after me these past few years. If I didn't have them, I might have been dead, well their was no might, I would have been dead.
Maggie came over to tale our order, "I got yours cooking Mayz, but what would you like," she laughed. Jase was laughing too,"A burger and fries, and a coke will be fine." She nodded, not writing it down and walked back to the kitchen.
Jase looked at me, "Well, she already has yours cooking, what are you getting? Do you get the same thing every time?"
I laughed, "Yes, I really do come here a lot. I'm getting green tea and a apple, the same thing every time."
He nodded then looked like he was deep in thought.
Maggie brought the food over at that moment. She didn't say anything that time, she just set our food down and winked at me.
"Kitten, do you starve yourself," Jase asked making me Maggie and Miss Beth freeze.
Bloddy hell, I thought
