Extraordinary

Prologue

"Youz my beautiful darling are  going to encounter a lot of problems and you don't know the grief I feel at not being able to be with you through it all ..but the longer we stay the sooner they'll find us "my mother whispered pushing little strands of my hair behind my ear ,the moonlight shining brightly above us and the soft echo of the forest breeze whispering around us " Take care of your brother "she continued  "and tell no one your secret"

We were both sitting on sleeping bags in the middle of our tent and an outsider may have mistaken us for a happy family just enjoying camping out in the woods, but the reality was anything but " Mommy,am scared I don't want you to go" I said my eyes glistening with unshed tears.

"I know sweetie, I know ,we don't want to leave you either but we have to" she replied gathering me into her arms and holding me close to her chest."Everything's gonna be alright "she said resting her chin on my forehead.

"Mira"my father called to her rushing into the tent with my little brother in his arms    " we need to leave now"he said both of them making eye contact above my head,my mother and I broke apart and he kissed me on my forehead gently as he carefully placed my brother who was less than 2years old into my arms "Now we've gone over this over and over again, so you know what you have to do."my father gathered both me and my brother into his arms and held us tightly

" Be careful"my mother whispered one last time gazing longingly first at my brother as though if she picked him up one last time she wouldn't be able to go through with it then looking into my eyes "and remember that your father and I will always love you guys".  She lifted her hand from my cheek with tears shining in her eyes and took a step back and said "Go"

With shaking legs and my little brother in my arms I walked forward glancing back a few times to see that they were still following carefully behind me to make sure I got there safe or maybe to make sure I didn't follow them,probably both."Come on ,Scarlett. You can do this" i muttered quietly steeling myself for the worst I walked forward until I reached my destination ,the borders of the red sun clan

One of the men on patrol spotted me. A little girl holding a baby and walking in the woods in the middle of the night is not something you see everyday so it was no surprise that the guy ran over to me and started asking questions

"What's your name" He asked first crouching down to my level.

Some of the other guards had started to notice my presence and were moving towards our direction but he kept his eyes on me waiting for my answer  I looked back at him and whispered "Scarlett"

"How did you get here ? Who are your parents ? Why are you with a baby ? What's his name" He asked ,one question after another not giving me time to answer.

"He's my brother Sam" remembering my parents instructions "Tell them nothing but your names" they had repeated .

"Well ,how did both of you wind up here" he asked becoming more persistent when he noticed I had not answered any of his other questions. The patrol guards behind seemed to be increasing in number as more of them came to check what exactly was going on.

"I don't know "I lied clutching my brother closer to me . I had never had a reason to lie before so I never had, but I knew that things had changed and that one lie would be the first of many.
