Chapter 2
“Hello, my name is Tweedle Dee,” said one of the boys.
“And I am Tweedle Dum,” said the other.
Tweedle Dee was still chomping on a piece of the body they were eating and Tweedle Dum held a human leg in his left hand. Red was frozen in horror.
“Oh look what flesh you have so soft and sweet, “said Dee.
“So tender and better for us to eat”, added Dum.
Red bolted clear out of there leaving the Tweedles calling behind her.
“Please come back delicious food!”
“Why must you be so rude?!”
Red ran until she could no longer hear the demented rhyme. She clutched on to a tree and vomited into a leaf-less bush nearby.
“Aww, have the little Tweedles frightened the poor lost doll?”
The voice came from nowhere but everywhere.
Red could only reply in a shakey , terrified voice, “Wh…Who are you?”
“I’m exactly what you think I am.”
Red couldn’t understand what was going on and she was so terrified she could only cry.
“Is the doll afraid of cats as well?”
She stated to look around again. Over her head in the tree she’d vomited near was a smile. A wide razor toothed smile and a tail wagging, and bother were floating in mid air.
“A…Ar…Are you a cat?” Red stuttered.
“Indeed I am a cat,” the floating mouth was speaking the words.
A pair of yellow eyes appeared above the mouth. Then a pair of ears wiggled above the eyes. Red watched in awe as the rest of the body filled itself out.
The cat spoke again “Now that you see that i am indeed a cat, are you still afraid?”
“Please don’t kill me”, pleaded Red.
The cat laughed. “When have you ever known a cat to eat dolls?’
Red let out a sigh of relief.
“Don’t let that hair down quite yet, little doll. Though I may not want to kill you, there are tons of things in this forest that will.”
“Do you know where the white rabbit is?” asked Red.
“Mmm…I love rabbit stew”, replied the cat.
“Well it’s not really a rabbit. It’s a little girl.” Red corrected.
“Ahh. You must mean the queens little pet.”
“Who is the queen?’ Red asked desperately.
“The queen is the queen”, riddled the cat. “The queen, His majesty.”
