Rain thundered around the concrete abode, melding with the crackling flames that started to warm Coriolanus' back as he stared at the weapons. Among them lie the evidence of he's guilt, the path to he's future, the old rifle holding he's DNA. If he destroyed this only piece of evidence then he's path would be cleared, a path to power, to reinstating the Snow name as one to be respected, even feared.

Lucy Gray noticed the stashed weapons, seeing Coriolanus' stance, almost seeing he's cogs turning. She should run, escape before he can hurt her. She's a loose end too, isn't she? But she doesn't run. She moves forward. Slowly, lovingly, she wraps her arms around he's chest, pressing her cheek into he's back.

The capitol bred mentor-turned-peacekeeper stiffened upon the embrace, feeling Lucy Gray's warmth seep into he's skin through the damp layers of clothes. He hadn't realized just how cold he had been just moments before. "Don't." The single word caused a war within him. Two futures spread out before him, two choices.

Looking at the gun showed him a future of power. He would go to District 2, training as an officer, and elite officer. He's lack of knowledge regarding peacekeepers left him wondering just where that could lead, but he knew it would be a start.

Then the warmth at he's back revealed another path. He turned to face Lucy Gray, seeing her, older then she was now. A lush forest surrounded them, filled with color and beauty. Somewhere in the background he could hear the sounds of children. He closes he's eyes against the scene, opening them again in the present.

Gazing into the worried eyes of the girl he loved, he made up he's mind. He goes in for a kiss, the miss-matched couples lips meeting tenderly. It was the most gentle kiss they'd had yet, but pulling apart revealed it to be the most energizing. Placing a hand on Lucy Gray's face, he smiled. "My Lucy Gray." He said softly. "I'm with you, until the end. Like it or not."

Lucy Gray smiled back, giggling as she leaned into he's touch, placing her own hand over he's. "I wouldn't have it any other way." Lucy gray saw a future of her own, sitting next to a white-haired Coriolanus next to a lake, faces lined with age but still smiling happily as they sung together. Blinking away the image, she was more then happy to see such a future unfold.

For now the two figures huddled together, waiting for the fish to cook as the rain relented into a light shower. The first day of the rest of their lives had just begun, both of them eager to see where it lead them.
