 Chapter 2:

I’d finally hailed a cab after waiting for what seemed like hours but in reality was all of five minutes. Once I got into the cab the driver a man with a large white beard that looked a bit like what I’d imagine Santa Claus to look like in person asked me, “Hello there sweetie where am I taking you?”

“JFKAirport please.” was my reply.

“Alright miss, do you mind if I turn on the radio?” he asked while starting the meter.

“That’s fine I was just going to ask you to turn it on.” The man reached over and turned on the radio and changed the station a few times until he settled on a station.

“…in a pipe she flies to the mother land or sells love to another man” As soon as I recognized the song a smile made it’s way to my face and I closed my eyes and started to sing along to the radio. I sat like that just with my eyes closed and singing my heart out to the music until the song ended.

“If you don’t mind me saying miss,” here it comes he’s going to kick me out of his cab for singing though this wouldn’t be the first time that I got kicked out of a cab for singing. “Miss, miss?” the man asked.

“Yes?” I asked as I realized the man had been trying to talk to me while I was thinking about my past experiences with getting kicked out of cabs.

“Did you hear any of what I said?” the man asked politely.

“I’m sorry I didn’t.” I said and then bit my lip waiting for the man to kick me out.

“That’s alright I was just trying to compliment you on your singing, it was very good.”

A smile came to my face as I thanked the man.

Almost twenty songs later and the man finally pulled up to the airport. “Would you like for me to wait out here for you miss?” the man asked me.

“Um, yes please if you wouldn’t mind seeing as it took me quite a long time to get a cab earlier.” Was my answer and the man nodded and I nodded a thank you back to the man and climbed out of the cab. I walked into the crowded airport and walked to the arrival board to see if my cousin had arrived yet.

I skimmed the board until I found the flight I was looking for Flight 1027 from LondonHeathrowInternationalAirport. The flight was due to come in fifteen minutes so I made my way towards the terminal. As soon as I reached the terminal and took a seat to wait but when I glanced up at the arrivals board I saw that I’d read the wrong time and that my cousin wouldn’t be arriving for another thirty minutes.

Since I had some spare time I got up from the uncomfortable chair that I was sitting in and made my way to try and find a shop where I could buy a drink. I walked into a store that was typical of what you might find in drug store and made my way over to the cooler and grabbed a coke. I checked my phone to see how much time before the flight got in, it was only eleven forty-five and his flight was coming in at noon. I made my way to the counter and paid the outrageous cost for my bottle of coke and then made my way back to the terminal just as I spotted a crowd of people coming out. I quickly made my way towards the mass of people and spotted my cousin.

“Hey Carrot-top!” I yelled over the crowd of people and saw my cousin whip around and start walking towards me just as I was doing the same.

“LOU!!!” he yelled back and hugged me. “How are you?” he asked me.

“I’m fine, what about you Gingy?” I asked him back.

“I’m good, so when are we leaving?”

“Wow Eddie when’d you get so impatient?” I asked.

“When I just got off of a long flight and I’m feeling jet lagged.”

“You’d think you’d be over jet lag by now seeing as you fly a lot wouldn’t you?” I asked just to stall so he’d get mad at me.

“Yeah, I wish I was but for now I’m not so could we please leave?” he practically begged.

“Alright but we have to grab your stuff first.” I gave in seeing as he did look quite tired.

“Deal.” He said as we made our way to the baggage claim. We were able to find his stuff and I grabbed his guitar as he grabbed his suit case and we walked to the cab. When we got to the cab which to my surprise was still where I’d gotten out earlier we loaded Ed’s luggage into the trunk and hopped into the back.

“Where to miss?” the driver asked me for the second time today.

“Just back to where you picked me up this morning.” I said and the man nodded and we were off on our way back to my apartment.

“So Lou what’ve you been up to today?” Ed asked.

“Oh nothing much, I got up showered, talked to my neighbor, sang The A Team in this cab on the way to get you, picked you up and here we are.”

“Why were you singing The A Team in here?” he asked.

“Well my friend,” I said as I pointed to the cab driver “turned on the radio and it was playing.”

“It’s good to know that you’ve bothered to learn my songs.” Ed teased me with a smirk.

“Hey! You know I like your music.” I said and then we both burst into fits of laughter.

Once we’d calmed down Ed and I talked about what it was like living his dream when he noticed my t-shirt. “Whoa, is that a One Direction shirt I see?” Ed asked me.

“Why yes Edward it is.” I replied.

“They’re some nice lads. So what’s your favorite song?” Ed asked me.

“Well I really like the whole album but Moments is probably my favorite.”

“I knew it, I knew that you love me.” Ed said as the cab pulled up in front of my apartment building and I paid the cab driver and we got out. We collected Ed’s luggage and made our way into my apartment building, known to Ed as his temporary home for the next four months.
