Kelsey's POV
The day is young and the sun is shining brightly.
I'm sitting at a little stop with one of my friends, Jocelyn.
It's my first day back in town since I moved away 2 years ago.
I graduated from high school at my other home and decided to move back after turning 18 to be with my old friends.
We are sitting on the hood of my vintage Camaro convertible.
An unfamiliar Chevy pulls into the lot and parks a few spots away from us.
The guy in sunglasses who steps out of the car is also unfamiliar, at least to me.
"Who is that?" I whisper to Jocelyn.
I can't help but stare at him as he walks in our direction.
"Niall Horan. He went to the other high school." She whispers back.
"How do you know who he is then?"
"I've heard stories about him. He's one of the bad boys. Heard he's a wicked kisser." She tells me.
"He looks like tough shit, but I kinda like it." I say, and she gives me a surprised look.
"Wow, you like bad boys now do you? You've changed, Kelsey!" She jokes, and I laugh.
He approaches us.
Jocelyn nudges my shoulder.
"Hey ladies." He says with a smirk and an Irish accent.
His eyes flicker to me and I immediately look down.
"I don't think I know you....what's your name?" Niall asks almost rudely, in a sense like he's better than everyone else, and I look up almost too quickly.
"Kelsey." I respond, noticing he still has his sunglasses on.
Which bothered me for some reason, and I found a way to show him he's not intimidating to me.
I reached out and took them off to reveal his pair of stunning blue eyes.
I put the sunglasses on myself, which seemed to shock both Jocelyn and Niall.
"that's better. and you're Niall, right?" I say, sticking my hand out for him to shake.
I half expected him to say something rude to me for taking his sunglasses and acting like a smart-ass.
Instead, his face morphs into a genuine smile.
"Yeah, that's me. You new around here?"
"Yeah...well kind of. Moved back here. Left 2 years ago. Came back a few days ago."
"Nice. I better get going...see you soon?" He says staring at me, now seeming almost more curious about me than I am about him.
He starts to walk away and I realize I still have his sunglasses, and I approach him, handing them back to him.
"Missing something?" I say, and he turns around.
"Oh yeah. And you're missing something too...." He says, scribbling something on a slip of paper.
I hand him the glasses and he gives me the paper.
"See you around." I say with a smirk, turning swiftly and walking back to sit with Jocelyn.
He gets in his car and drives out of the lot.
"I can't believe you did that. Damn, you're pretty goddamn fearless!" Jocelyn says excitedly.
"He was talking to me like he was an arrogant ass so I thought I would show him he's not intimidating me."
"What's that?" She asks, referring to the tiny slip of paper in my hands.
I realize I haven't looked at it.
I open it and see a set of numbers.
"His number. Classic." I responded with a small laugh.
"We will have to see what becomes of that...."
"That we will."
